Welcome to Bulbapedia, Spideym!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! TESHIGIGAS 18:03, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Talk Pages

It's good to see you're discussing articles on talk pages, as opposed to having a conversation like many other contributors here, but it is a requirement that you end each post with ~~~~. These four tildes will automatically put your signature at the end of each post, and let others know who is saying what, and when. To change your signature, go to Special:Preferences. Thanks, and have a great new year. — THE TROM — 08:14, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Please read the above, again, please. — THE TROM — 09:15, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

You know....

Honestly, get a life. Do you have nothing better to do than go and call people names because they think a Pokémon is gay?

"They wouldn't put gays in a kids show". Oh how I love it when they use this excuse. Japanese culture =/= American culture. Ever heard of an anime called Sailor Moon? That was a show directed at kids, yet two of the main characters were lesbians. Japan isn't afraid of showing homosexuality in their kids shows like America is.

While it's true that Pokémon can't be gay in the games, the games don't always mean the same thing in the anime. Like levels don't appear to exist or Pokémon can learn moves that they can't normally learn in the games.

Now please, contribute something useful to the pedia instead of using it like a forum. Have a nice day. --ケンジガール 19:55, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but that argument fails due to the simple fact that the Pokémon anime is more kiddy than Sailor Moon, as it never showed any nudity. Spideym 05:10, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
You do realize that even Pokémon has had homosexual characters in it before... --ケンジガール 05:14, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Who? Harley? He was just a girly dude who was never confirmed to be homosexual. Spideym 05:20, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
There was a trainer in Pokémon Fashion Flash that owned a Chansey who was clearly homosexual. --ケンジガール 05:21, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
And you know that he is gay, how? Spideym 05:23, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
I don't know... Dresses in womens clothes... Preferes to go by Obasan Japanese equivelent to Miss. --ケンジガール 05:25, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
That makes him girly at most. Anabel is usually mistaken for a male by the characters, and in the japanese version, she refers to herself as "Boku", a pronoun used by males. And yet she had a crush on Ash, which means that she's just a tomboy, not a lesbian. Spideym 05:31, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Yeah right... I don't think so. When a man wants to be called "Miss" by others, than that usually means gay. Anabel doesn't wanted to be called a boy. The anime hints that he's gay. Isn't that what you're arguing here? That if it's hinted than it must be true. Even Pokeani dubs him as "Okama" Japanese for homosexual. --ケンジガール 05:35, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
--Force Fire talk 05:36, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Ok, you win. He's supposed to be seen as gay by the older audience due to the hints you mentioned. Likewise, Ash's Charizard isn't a gay Pokémon, but a male, due to the fact that the writers strongly hinted at the later and never gave us a reason to think the opposite. Same for Ash's Bayleef and Totodile being female and male respectively. Spideym 05:50, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Please do not swear

Please do not swear, like you did here, there could quite likely be children viewing that talkpage. If there is, they will copy you.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 17:24, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Swearing isn't against Bulba policy. R.A. Hunter Blade 00:08, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, really?--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 17:14, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Tmwps... There isn't even any swearing in the message you linked to... Regardless, saying "shit", "damn", etc. here or there is not against any policy, unless it is aimed at someone as an insult. So seriously, calm down, there was nothing wrong... - Kogoro | Talk to me - 17:33, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Talk Page Comments

Please don't erase talk page comments for no reason. Trust me, you do NOT want to end up like Big Johnno, who got into an edit war with a sysop over comments the former had erased and was trying to keep erased. That user ended up blocked and subsequently had every erased comment restored. --— THE TROM — 00:35, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Er, I deleted it because it was a old discussion that no one cares about anymore, so it was there wasting space.
