Here's a small little list of guidelines I expect to be followed on my talk page:
  • Please use English. It's not that I'm against other languages, it's am I suppose to respond when I don't know what you said?
  • Please do not respond for me. I don't mind people tacking on their own questions to a discussion that's already been made, even before I have the chance to answer the initial post. But when someone personally has come here to ask me a question, don't answer for me. And if someone has answered for me, please don't take their word for my own. I can guarantee you that almost no one on this site knows me as well as I do. If you want my opinion, you wait for my response.

Notability of putting the use of a move by only one trainer in the anime in the Trivia section

I just wanted the opinion of a pro; I have noticed that in the anime, only one trainer was shown to command the move Minimize and Giga Drain. Nurse Joy was the only one to ever command Minimize and Paul was the only one to ever command Giga Drain. Do you think this is notable to put in the trivia sections of both pages? Ataro says that it is not, but he won't give me a good enough reason why. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 14:54, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Not really. There's a first time for everything, and there's plenty of moves that have never been used in the anime. So I don't think it's notable for moves used recently. If the move was used in the first season, and was never used since.......maybe. Signature moves wouldn't count though, I don't think. Like saying Lugia's the only Pokémon to use Aeroblast in the anime. Well yeah, duh, it's the only Pokémon who knows it. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:34, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. And it is obvious that Lugia is the only one capable of using Aeroblast, even though I didn't mean literal signature moves. I just meant moves that have only been commanded by one trainer in the anime. But now I understand. And by the way, on the Archives, when you upload an improved file of a picture, how do you get that upload to be the default set picture? I uploaded a new file for Roxie's Garbodor, but when I go to her page, it shows the old one. Do you know how to fix that? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 15:04, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
It will fix itself. The server needs to synchronize Bulbapedia and the Archives. When that happens, the image on Bulbapedia will update. This happens with every image. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 15:53, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Okay. So I just have to wait? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 17:11, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Pretty much. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 19:02, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Okey-dokey. Thanks! Do you know how long it normally takes? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 03:19, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
Sometimes a few hours, sometimes a day. Sometimes even a few days. Could always clear your cache to check (click the time code at the top of the page next to your username) Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:22, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
Got it. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 05:31, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

I don't get it

Why is it that this LegandofThor2 user keeps on creating multiple accounts and coming back here despite being told multiple times not to? PattyMan 20:44, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Your guess is as good as mine. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 22:17, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
Looks like you have the same question too. PattyMan 22:33, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Trapinch Edit

Just wondering: Why did you think my Trapinch trivia wasn't notable (the one about learning Dig)? Aggron989 (talk) 01:51, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Almost every Pokémon can learn advanced moves after the point that it evolves. We don't need to point it out. The part that Trapinch is the only third Generation Pokémon that learns Dig belongs on the Dig page. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:01, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Template Request

Hey Jo, I was wondering if you could help me with something. On the new Dungeon location pages (like this one for example), has the items listed without a template or anything to go along with it. IMO, it's rather plain looking the way it is now. Do you think you could somehow find or develop a template that could be used to list MD game items? Thanks for da help. --Pokemaster97 01:34, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Template:DungeonItem/h and Template:DungeonItem. Abcboy put them together, I just finished tweaking them and moving them into the template space. Let me know if any adjustments are needed. Werdnae (talk) 19:53, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh, that looks good. If I find anything wrong, I'll be sure to let you know. --Pokemaster97 03:53, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Ok,I got it

Thanks for telling me to do that.So I will just go to those pages and delete the trivia on sprites.27thcolt (talk) 09:51, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Editing again

As to many important events are happening in these last episodes I would like to earn back my privilege of editing again.I won't be abusing again.I will respect the rules. Please I need to create new articles that may be taken in use.I will not abuse again. ★Alex★ Water 23:01, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Listen Jo. Up until now, I have been thinking about every mainspace edit I have made since you revoked my userspace rights. And I've come to a conclusion that I have made a lot of edits since then. And, I want to ask if you think I'm ready to have my userspace rights reinstated. Before you answer, I want you to think about how much I have used and appreciated your benevolence, but I absolutely want you to forget about how I assumed nonchalance in you. I now trust you as someone who can help guide me, and you have earned your place as my favorite administrator. Just please take some time to think about all of this. When you finish thinking, please tell me. Do you think I am ready to have my userspace rights reinstated? (I can take no for an answer.) Thanks so much. the great MIKORO (talk to me) 03:32, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

After talking it over with some of the staff, we've decided to grant you your userspace privileges. However, if you abuse it again, it will be revoked again without warning. So make sure to follow the rules. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 06:07, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks a million. Scout's honor, I will never abuse my userspace rights again. And by the way, do you know where people normally get HD pictures that they upload? Most of the pictures I upload are deemed unsatisfactory. the great MIKORO (talk to me) 15:20, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
All images must be in PNG format, with the exception of animated pre-Gen IV Pokémon sprites (GIFs) and voice actor photos (JPGs). GamerGeek 00:56, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
Please do not post responses to messages on my talk page. It's stated at the top of the page. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:25, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, I just thought you might have overlooked his/her last message; I'll look for other things to do. GamerGeek 07:23, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
1: I'm a boy.
2: That's not what I asked. I asked where people get HD pictures from because some pictures I upload are deemed unsatisfactory. the great MIKORO (talk to me) 13:16, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
I'll continue this conversation via email. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 13:40, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Template: Starter Pokémon

I don't know about you, but I think the template for the Starter Pokémon needs some major changes. For example, we can remove the Rumble and MD starters and replace them with the Conquest. Also, having the yellow starters pushed to the left makes it look a little wierd. Maybe they should in the middle (right under Johto and Unova).Iml908 (talk) 00:52, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Copyright violation?

Here it is. For example, a comparison of their Krookodile page:

Krookodile is a large terracotta-colored crocodile. It has gray-black stripes around its stomach, arms, tail, and snout. Each foot is black and has three claws. Its hands have three fingers that end in a claw on each digit. Around its eyes, there is a black area resembling a bandit's mask, or a stylized pair of sunglasses. Krookodile has a periwinkle belly.

This wiki's:

They are copying information. Will staff be taking any action on it? --Abcboy (talk) 03:34, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Yup, that's definitely not a good thing. I've notified the rest of the staff. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 04:02, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Seeing double. They are taking our images as well and shrinking them. PattyMan 02:51, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
SnorlaxMonster has also already told them. They haven't ceased though. --Abcboy (talk) 03:22, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
I also just noticed this, this, and even this. I didn't even know they could copy contributions like that. --Abcboy (talk) 03:29, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
Wow, what the hell? How did they do that? I never made those edits. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:39, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

About the changes you made to the Join Avenue article

I don't want to revert everything you did, but neither do I feel like putting in the enormous amount of work it would take to correct your mistakes. So I'm asking, could you please do that yourself? I think you'd figure out where you went wrong if you read the article, but I can provide some main points:

  • You've removed all the question marks from the recommendation phrase table, which were there because they had not been disconfirmed. For example, the table now says that "Is there a place where I can warm up?" is not compatible with the Raffle Shop type, when it is. Essentially, you turned a "research in progress" table into a final one, which does not make sense unless you've somehow acquired complete knowledge on it, but the example above illustrates that you have not.
  • You've also included the phrases "I want to get excited about something" and "I want to buy some delicious berries!", which I hid because the users who originally added them to the article most likely did not write them exactly as they appear in the games - first one lacks a period or an exclamation mark, second one probably capitalizes Berries like the other Berry-related phrase.
  • You changed the recommendation phrase table's point system from two columns which presented NPC fans' 75% and multiplayer representations' 100%, listing the correct point values for the various quotes, to a four column system that erroneously factors in Hall of Fame entrance, has the same point values for almost every phrase, and for some reason mentions StreetPass, which you will also discover makes little sense if you read the article.
  • You've expanded the Café table to include not only one price per service, but one for each rank as well, which you'll see is completely wrong if you read what the article says about avenue rank.

There's more, but I may be able to take care of that myself, after you've cleaned up. Yvnr (talk) 08:11, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

I'll accept that I might have made a few errors, and you're welcome to not agree with something I did, but I don't appreciate the attitude that is present in your message.
  • I don't see how this inhibits anyone from adding in check marks when they find something that works. I think having a bunch of question marks all over the place looks sloppy, so yes, I removed them.
  • Those are simple grammar mistakes. I'd rather have a simple mistake like that than completely hiding the information should someone need to look up that specific phrase. I went ahead and made the corrections as one of my visitors just said, "I want to get excited about something!"
  • The points I received from one of the phrases was different than what was on the table, so yes, I assumed there was something different regarding the points. But you're right, it seems I was mistaken. I can't remember what the phrase was that gave me the 150 points, either. The term "Multiplayer representation" is misleading. Multiplayer means that the other player is actively controlling themselves, which is not the case here. I've changed it simply to "other players".
  • Fair enough. I was focused on templates and did not read that. I've also corrected the prices I added to their non-discounted amount. I still don't know which Café I have, so I'm unsure how to correct the Ranks which you receive each dish. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 10:34, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
Attitude? Come on, my message was about as matter-of-fact as possible. Please don't try to make this personal just because I informed you of your mistakes.
  • I agree that this is a matter of opinion, and as long as I'm not responsible for the choice, I can accept the lack of question marks.
  • You fixed this.
  • You partially fixed this, except for the point values, which you've listed as 75/100 for most phrases, when they in fact have specific values. You will find these if you look at the article as it was before you made your changes.
    • Naming those characters is tricky. They were previously referred to as "avatars of other players". I'd say that "other players" sounds more like they are actually being controlled than "multiplayer representations" does, though, but I'm quite indifferent to what they are called.
  • You fixed this. I thought you identified your Café variation after our exchange at my talk page, but it seems you didn't. Again, look at the NPC fan table, which says Jocelyn wants to open a Café (A). Unless the original contributor made a mistake, that means your Café is variation A. Variation A has Power Lunch A at Rank 1, while Variation B has Power Lunch F at Rank 1. Yvnr (talk) 12:46, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Does nobody likes to welcome new user's or did I miss a new rule stating "that a user must be welcomed only if they do edits", Just wondering--Jaison Clinton Castelino 16:09, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

I can't really answer the first question cause I don't know what everyone is thinking, but we do prefer that experienced users welcome new ones, that way if the new user goes to their welcomer for advice they're more likely to get the help they need. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 21:00, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for the answers--Jaison Clinton Castelino 15:21, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Join Avenue

I've noticed the inuse template has been removed from the Join Avenue page, was this done by you regarding you've finished, or was this done by someone else? As you've noticed, I'm rather new here, so I'm not too familiar with how this works. thank you, ToxicAtom (talk) 14:05, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

It was me. I had finished the work I was doing. You can always check the history pages (locatd at the top of the site) to see who did what to the article. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 14:41, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

About my forced preview

I've been forced to preview my edits from November 22, 2012, over two months now. Could you please take me out of this user group, I think I've been in it long enough. Thank you. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 07:56, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Speaking of this, how long does forced preview last? TheShinyRoggenrola (talk) 15:32, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Until it is taken off. I'll see what other people think of your situation, Finnish. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 15:48, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. I'll be waiting. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 15:54, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
I've discussed it with other staff members, and we've all decided that because you still tend to have issues with editing pages multiple times, to leave it as it is. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:42, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Are the last two trivia in the Pokédex article really needed? TheShinyRoggenrola (talk) 20:51, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Dennou Zenshi solved this problem. TheShinyRoggenrola (talk) 21:05, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Learnset: namespace

Hey Jo --

What is the purpose of the Learnset: namespace? I've noticed it in my search settings and was wondering if there is anything in there; if not, whether it would ever be used. Once I get autoconfirmed in a few days I will be more than happy to help utilize it. Since you're the Head of Games, and that's where learnsets are typically used, I figured you might know the answer. Thanks, ChiefbozX (talk) 04:21, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

The Learnsets were going to be given their own pages at one point in time, but the idea was tossed, so there's literally no point to the namespace. Don't worry about it. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 04:27, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for clearing that up. ChiefbozX (talk) 04:28, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Location Infobox

The location infobox as shown here on the Miror B.'s Hideout page automatically attempts to find a map for the location with the same name as the location (in this case, the non-existent "Orre Miror B.'s Hideout Map.png"). However, the appropriate image would be the map location of Pyrite Town (this image). This leaves two possible solutions, either modifying the template (which could most likely cause all sorts of unforeseen glitches on pages), or creating a page for "File:Orre Miror B.'s Hideout Map.png" that would contain a redirect to "File:Orre Pyrite Town map.png". While the latter seems like the most logical and simple solution, I am simply seeking approval in case creating redirects for each location in Orre to their corresponding map locations isn't desired. --Nairbnroh (talk) 18:47, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

I would be okay with the creation a file redirect. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 19:14, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
There's actually a parameter in the infobox that allows for the display of a differently named map. I've just added the Pyrite Town map to the Hideout page.--MisterE13 19:44, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
Ah, thanks :D Disregard the whole redirect thing then XD --Nairbnroh (talk) 20:10, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

sourcing voice actors

When we source voice actors, what do we have to say other than saying that we talked to them? PattyMan 00:53, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Providing a chat log or a believable alibi would be best. A lot of people, myself included, have voice actors on Facebook, so in that case, it'd be best to link to the discussion if it was on a status, or taking a screenshot if it's a private chat (make sure the voice actor's name is visible at least). If a voice actor goes to a convention and you happen to meet them there, that'd be a reasonable story as we can see if the con was recently, if they were at that con, and if it's within a reasonable proximity to the user's location. If you know a voice actor personally, say how you met them, and any extra proof (Facebook friends, a photo of the two of you together, or whatever you're comfortable with) will help validate your relationship with the person. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 01:09, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Do we need a staff page for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky? I can't find one. ☆ヨッシ の世界☆ 20:40, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

Cursed Body in BW010

Did the Ability, Cursed Body, activate before in a previous episode because Iris and Cilan reacted as if it did? When I stated this topic on A Rival Battle for Club Champ!'s talk page, nobody responded to it for over a month. PattyMan 18:51, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

No. They probably just knew what it did. I haven't watched the episode in a long time. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:09, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Me either. The whole Ash not knowing business spreaded like wildfire (don't remember where I saw it). PattyMan 03:26, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Now two mistakes happened in the episode relating with Cursed Body (the other one being the effect yelled out incorrectly)*. PattyMan 03:41, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

What happened?

Do you know what happened to the two most recent Party templates in the Prime Cup article? Nepse (talk) 21:21, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

Articles have a limit to how many of the same template can be on the page. The page just reached the limit. That's all. Looks like we'll have to do something to lower the number of templates on the page. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:52, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
How about we split it into "List of Prime Cup Trainers PokéBall/Great Ball/Ultra Ball/Master Ball/in Pokémon Stadium 2", or would that be to many articles? Nepse (talk) 07:37, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

Archive Red Link

I noticed on your third archive that there is a link to a nonexistant page (one that was deleted funnily enough; Henrietta Million). Think you could remove it? Thanks. :-) Frozen Fennec 03:43, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Bulbapedia News Area

I would like to create a news area to appear on the main page, possibly in the message for the editor because no one has put anything in their since 2012. With new Info such as help for new trainers, fanfiction stories, or any thing possible. If you want I can give you a sample if you would like.(ShadowPikachu126 (talk) 00:06, 8 April 2013 (UTC))

Bulbapedia is not the place for fan fiction, nor are we a strategy guide. We already have both a Bulbanews stream, and BulbanewsNow Twitter stream on the main page. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:39, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Pokemon Black and White 2...

Hi Jo, Do you have Pokemon Black or White 2? If so, is it worth it to get one of them? I've played Pokemon White, and I have to say I was pretty disappointed with it. It's story moved a bit too fast, and it was very confusing. I have a birthday coming up soon,so do you think I should get one? Is there really much improvment? Or should I just wait for X and Y? (im not that happy that they are adding new types)Which one? - unsigned comment from JolteonGuardian (talkcontribs)

I'd suggest asking on the forums. You'd get multiple different opinions, not to mention that this isn't really what talk pages are for. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 06:18, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Sorry I just started this profile yesterday so I didnt really know where else to go. - unsigned comment from JolteonGuardian (talkcontribs)

Hi jo, it's me again. I was just curious, how to do you become an administrater? Sorry if this question doesnt belong here either. I'm still trying to get used to the site.

EDIT- I've looked at some other questions and one of the people asked about moving up from one group to another. Are there certain groups that define you? I would like to know how to climb them. I know I am new here, but hey, I'm ambitious! JolteonGuardian 06:14, 11 April 2013 (UTC)JolteonGaurdian

Here are the two general user groups.
User (All users are in this group by default)
emailconfirmed (Same as the above usergroup, but they have followed the directions in the email sent to them after registering)
Autoconfirmed (Obtained after staying with the wiki for a while and making a decent amount of edits)
The rest you can read about on the different staff pages, such as Junior Administrators. You can check what usergroups you're in by going to your preferences. Be sure to check the FAQ if you have any more questions. If you can't find your answers there, then you can ask me something else. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 06:33, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Executive Policymakers

Hey Jo, why do the four Executive Policymakers have red X's next to their names? JolteonGuardian 20:29, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

It's a bit tricky to explain. They aren't neither necessarily "active" or "inactive". They're simply around. They have a constant influence on the site whether they're actively present or not. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 20:44, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Am I asking too many questions? I feel like I m being a bit annoying. I can stay away from this page if you would like. - unsigned comment from JolteonGuardian (talkcontribs)

As staff, it's my job to answer questions users might have. It doesn't hurt to try and figure things out on your own, though. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:36, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Bulbasaur listed as the wrong type

In the Bulbapedia:Manual of Style, Bulbasaur is listed as being a Grass type, but it is a Grass and Poison type. Does this listing need to be changed, or is this need-less data? JolteonGuardian 22:03, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Buried Alive

Since you are the head of games, I need to tell you something. I am making a page about buried alive. Charizard2052 (talk) 01:04, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

What is that? Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 01:30, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
Hope you don't mind Jo, I had this conversation with a user who wanted to do the same thing, but it turns out he got it from a creepypasta site. Personally, I think it is just a rom hack and not an actual thing.--ForceFire 03:12, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
Oh I see. No, we don't have pages for ROM Hacks or mods, and especially not creepypastas. Sorry, you can't create a page on Buried Alive. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:36, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Simply because you'll probably know better than me, I don't want to delete this article if it's actually really notable and just incomplete, so, Whack a Hack pokémon: notable or no? I know we're pretty selective about which fan sites and hack games, etc get included, but I also don't really have much involvement in this kind of stuff so i don't know haha. --ZestyCactus 18:44, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

It doesn't seem notable to me, and the page is horribly miniscule. I support getting rid of it. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 21:06, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
My suspicions confirmed then. I figured if it was really notable, the article would make that obvious. Thanks :) --ZestyCactus 04:17, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

a question

I randomly came across a user talk page, where they say something like "if you want to donate to my ds fund email me at soandso". is this against the rules? it kind of just struck me as weird, sorry if it's no big deal. Hastings (talk) 00:37, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

ah, okay! it was this talk page Hastings (talk) 02:11, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Hm, nope, not a bot. They haven't edited since 2008. Think I'll just leave it be. There's nothing against advertising on the userspace. So long as you're human, you can advertise your charities, or blogs, or whatever. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:34, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Does the way an anime character behaves determines their age? PattyMan 01:25, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Not in the slightest. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 05:03, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

The possible bots are still around, only the duplicate accounts were taken care of. I should have clarified that right away, but I forgot and when I thought about it I thought it best to wait a while so I didn't edit the page too many times. So when you get a chance, can you look into Xaxfz4257 , Jpdfb2280 , 4d2y519b and 3vsutz880w since I believe them to be bots. Yamitora1 (talk) 05:24, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Retyping on the charts

On the Electric type page it displays Magnemite/Magneton in both the pure Electric section and the dual type section with notes indicating that the typing is different across generations (it also does this for Rotom except the differences between generations are of course both dual types). My point is, shouldn't this be done with the Pokemon retyped to being Fairy as opposed to moving them completely from where they were previously? - Tasty Salamanders (talk) 15:33, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Mewtwo in M16

I had meant to bring this up earier, but according to, director Kunihiko Yuyama said that it's not the same Mewtwo as was in M01 and MR. Just throwing that out there, hopefully to prevent more erroneous additions to the article. Trak Nar (talk) 15:51, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

I have a question

Once a page gets deleted due to not having enough content, how could I tell what amount is mostly blank since a non-admin can't access a deleted page? This is also for next time to avoid making the same mistake again when I create a page in the future under the username. PattyMan 19:21, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

In general, if all there is on the page is the name and an image, then the page doesn't tell the reader any more than the link that led them there in the first place. An article needs to tell the reader about the subject, not just that it exists. Werdnae (talk) 22:40, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Seizure Net Trivia

In the Trivia section of Pikachu's Goodbye, it says

    • The net Team Rocket uses is called the "Seizure Net". This episode is the episode that aired right after the seizure episode in Japan.

Is that true, or did someone insert false trivia because it seems like it. Yamitora1 (talk) 22:54, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Under the Effect section for Absorb, the Generations are not linked, but for Synthesis, they are linked.
My question is, which is the correct way, linked or non-linked? — Reshi643 (talk) 03:44, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Personally, I don't think we need links in the section heads. It looks kind of tacky. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:57, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Should I remove the links, or just leave the links as is? — Reshi643 (talk) 04:11, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
You can remove them if you want. It's not really at the top of my list of priorities, so be my guest. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 04:39, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Trivia issues

On Kangaskhan's page the first piece of trivia whose validity is disputable as it is a trait shared with six other Pokémon (whose pages also feature it). Similar trivia has been removed systematically from other Pokémon species' pages for the single reason of concerning more than one species of Pokémon. So what's the reason of ignoring this one, which is even more unnotable concerning the number of species? If this is kept in the future similar trivia about Pokémon of other generations (especially 2nd one) should also get that kind of trivia. Արիանո 06:59, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

The Kangaskhan trivia specifies that it is the few Gen I Pokémon to not have an evolution 5 generations on. If it wasn't generation specific and just said "Kangaskhan is one of the 30 odd Pokémon to not have an evolution" then it'll be unnotable.--ForceFire 07:43, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
First of all, don't answer for this page's owner for her (she apparently doesn't like it). But back to the topic: It still is more than one or two Pokémon so IT ISN'T notable by this site's new "standards" where what's notable and what isn't seems to be decided rather arbitrarily. If we continue with this hypocrisy then other such trivia should be allowed. Արիանո 07:57, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Please don't scold people on my own talk page, let alone a member of staff. I told the other staff members that one of them could answer for me because I was going to bed. Personally, I don't see this piece of trivia as troublesome as others, and honestly the staff have more important things to deal with right now than sorting out trivia. Maybe I'll bring it up later. We should have an official ruling on the site, but honestly we've just been busy taking care of X and Y stuff. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 14:16, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

I found Some Information to help you Guys but Pokemon is not my thing and you are the guy in charge of the pokemon games so could you figure out what to do with it?

This is what I found.

Pokemon with special stat numbers 251_254 can be obtained but only in the Japanese Pokemon Red and Green through the Fossil Conversion glitch.

That is why we should add them to the list. The glitch explanation is here, but it only works in pocket monsters aka and midori (Japanese red and green) and obviously they cannot be transfered to versions from other countries but they can be transferred to ao and pikatchu (japanese blue and yellow). With this glitch you can obtain all pokemon without linking to another game, and while it disables travel using surf or fly, fly is not neccessary and there is a glitch that allows you to obtain a special item called a surfboard which lets you surf any time. And in V1.O of aka and midori there is a glitch called dokokashira door glitch that lets you travel very fast through the game and even visit beta locations, so you would not need flying anymore.

The video showed a picture of an official magazine, therefore it would count as seeing it in a magazine- even though I don't get the magazines. Talk pages are the place to discuss things you have seen and put together speculation until you get the truth. If I had put it on the page then it would be speculation. I believe that this is overreaction, as I was just sharing what I had found to make sure all info is collected. Nutter Butter (talk) 00:34, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

It wasn't an official magazine though, nor was it any magazine at all. You have to be really cautious around the time a game is scheduled to be released as there are a lot of people posting fakes and hoaxes. It wasn't an overreaction, I'd just prefer people did a little more research on their own before asking us. Plus, we have a section on the forums specifically for this kind of discussion. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 01:02, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Then what is the point of a talk page? Also please reply on my talk page when you get this- that way I at least know you did reply. I did research on it and found the same thing over and over again, so I asked you and you got mad. Talk pages were designed to discuss opinions and even speculation to decide what's true. Nutter Butter (talk) 17:52, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
Generally, the point of a talk page is to discuss the content on the article. I wasn't mad, I was just doing my job. I didn't realize there was a discussion on the legitimacy of the videos, however, and I thought you were simply posting links to false sources. So I do apologize for that. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 01:03, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Pokemon x and y trainer names.

I want to ask you this...

...why did you resize every pokemon image so they're something like 350x350 instead of something like 350x199? I find it pointless. - unsigned comment from MaleCombee (talkcontribs)

Because we need every piece of official Pokémon artwork to be perfectly square for what we have intended for them in the future. That's why lately the staff has changed the artwork to be square in size. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:39, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Strange activity

Hey Jo, I've noticed some strange activity going on around the wiki, and I thought the staff should know about it. On some pages, incorrect sprites/images are depicted for what is trying to be shown. I have seen this around many different pages, one of them being on Ash's Buizel's page and another being on Dawn's Mamoswine's page. the great MIKORO (talk to me) 03:21, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

I don't see anything wrong with the pages at the moment. Next time you see it, would you mind taking a screenshot? Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 21:43, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Oh, it's been fixed. Alright, but I will inform you and show you a screenshot next time I see something like this. the great MIKORO (talk to me) 03:44, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
Jo, I found another error. Close Combat has the Grass-colored font. I'll email the screenshot to you. the great MIKORO (talk to me) 23:44, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
According to the code, it's not {{grass color}}, it's {{special defense color dark}}. Now, why it's using a stat color instead of a type color is a mystery to me... Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 00:45, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
I changed it to Fighting, though I don't know if that is the correct way in doing it though, considering that Template:Agility is Normal color, even though the move is a Psychic-type move. — Reshi643 01:22, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

Left 4 Dead wiki

Hello. First of all, I would like to apologize for contacting you here, but I'm not sure how else I'm supposed to talk to an administrator when I'm blocked on a site... My username is Foxi Hooves on the Left 4 Dead Wiki.

The block was made by 06abrahb.

Reason given: Inserting nonsense/gibberish into pages: counter-productive editing
   Start of block: 00:15, August 27, 2013
   Expiry of block: 00:15, August 30, 2013
   Intended blockee: Foxi Hooves
   Block ID: #1197
   Current IP address:

The information 06abrahb and I have come to disagree over, and which resulted in my block, is as follows:

"At the beginning safe room, next to the vending machine, is a poster for the Healthy Workers Medical Group. The number listed on the paper leads to a hotline for a free cruise that will make a stop in the Florida Keys, where the Survivors are heading."

This information was added to the following pages, under the following sections:

   The Barge - Easter Eggs
   Port Finale - Easter Eggs

The initial confrontation occured due to my improper use of the Bahamas, rather than the Florida Keys. This was changed in the next edit. It was after 06abrahb undid my edit that I undid his, and was blocked.

I feel that the information is relevant and has been placed in the appropriate sections since the phone number listed (800-555-1957) leads to a cruise line that has a registered stop in the Florida Keys, where the original survivors are seeking refuge.

My recent attempts to contact the number have failed, however, but 06abrahb has failed to give reasonable explanations for the reversion of my edits. Had they stated that the number does not work, after calling it themselves, then they would have been justified. But they did not. Foxi Hooves (talk) 01:16, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

I think it's just coincidence that the number is connected to a cruise line and you should stop calling the number. Unless someone at Valve admits that it was put there on purpose and that they own the number or something, it's just coincidence. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 01:32, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Alright. So, was my ban justified, since 06abrahb never gave any explanation as to why my edits were reverted, or why I was banned, save for "Inserting nonsense/gibberish into pages: counter-productive editing."?

Also, I've just sent an email to a few Valve employees, so we'll get an answer in a few weeks, hopefully.Foxi Hooves (talk) 01:48, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Steel (type) page

Nice update on the Steel type. Did you know there is a trivia piece on that page that needs to be updated as well. -Tyler53841 (talk) 22:25, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Would you mind telling me which one and what needs changing? I'm updating a template at the moment so I can't really focus on trivia at the moment. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 22:28, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
The third to last since before Dark and Ghost-type were removed, the Steel-type had something to do with every other type. All it needs is just a minor update, since this prospect existed from Generation II-V. On another note the new Fairy-type was not added yet for the new battle properties in Generation VI. -Tyler53841 (talk) 22:32, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
Yeah I noticed that last bit myself just a bit ago. :'D But I figured I'd add it when I update the page with your suggestion. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 22:41, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I would have been more than happy to take three days for the team if it meant someone was keeping a closer eye on Relicant, but sadly, that does not seem to have happened. She has continued to be abrasive and petulant without meriting even a verbal warning (and I'm not even getting into all the things she's gotten off scot-free with prior to our disagreement three days ago).

I cannot fathom the staff's behavior toward Relicant; you seem to be automatically treating her with the "fresh start" she so desperately wants, despite the fact that her behavior has barely changed. Yes, yes, innocent until proven guilty, but I think she's proven herself quite guilty by now, and made no significant steps to prove she's changed anything but the specific behavior of adding hidden comments.

I will certainly follow your orders to take my complaints to your and other staff members' talk pages rather than hers or Talk: namespace ones. However, Relicant is an enormous problem and I absolutely cannot "calm down" or drop the issue until the problem is solved — either by her good behavior or by ban. Thank you for your time. See you here again the next time Relicant acts up. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 03:55, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

Well, that didn't take long. Insubordination, edit warring with a staff member, and continuing to disruptively spam that Reshiram party sprite in unrelated discussions. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 17:35, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
Would you kindly stop this "rivalry" 0192? You seem to have a vendetta against me and I'm personally sick of you talking about me. --The Truth aka Relicant 17:40, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
It's obvious the staff already know about it, especially given the fact that they're arguing with one. The edit war wasn't that severe, and if Nate ever feels like action should be taken, he has the power to make it happen. The argument is heated, but no one has blatantly insulted the other. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 22:18, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
Sorry to interrupt on somebody else matter, but why's this always happening with Pumpkin, their must be some problem. I guess?--Viv (talk) 07:53, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
How do you mean, this is "always happening" with me? I take offense to highly disruptive users, but to my memory, that's only ever been Relicant and Spyspotter (the latter of whom is currently permabanned, and thus no longer an issue). My usual formality/bluntness is just the way I speak; it's no indication that I have a problem with anyone. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 08:14, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
Viv, that was completely uncalled for and extremely rude. Don't make comments like that in future. Pumpkinking, if someone says something like that, please just let a staff member know and don't respond - replying only adds fuel to the fire, so to speak.
The next person to carry on this conversation, whether on this talk page or another, gets blocked for a minimum of a week. This argument is over. Werdnae (talk) 10:06, 28 September 2013 (UTC)

How to refer to beta/pre-release elements of the games?

Relicant seems to be pushing for removal of the word "beta" from our pre-release articles, to the point of renaming the relevant section on every main series game article earlier today (see here for an example). Shouldn't such a wide-sweeping change have gone through discussion first? I'm not sure whether beta or "pre-release"/"development cycle" is more correct (I know the former is only a part of the latter, but it sure seems like we don't have any info on alpha versions, at least to me), but "beta" is definitely the long-standing usage, so a change should definitely have been discussed somewhere, much like the change from EVs to base stats. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 15:47, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Umm.., Just out of CurIoSity I wanted to ask you that, Why the images of the Pokémon are not official artwork of Ken I don't know much about archives that's why I asked this --Viv (talk) 15:01, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

You mean why are we using Dream World art for some of the Pokémon? Because not all the Pokémon have Sugimori art released at the moment, so we're using what we've got, and luckily we've got all the Dream World art. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 15:07, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
This is the last time I'm troubling you, please see what I'm getting wrong in the (TM's and HM's) I've spent almost an hour on it Avalugg--Viv (talk) 15:29, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Relicant again

She's trying to antagonize me on my talk page about an administrative decision I have no input on. I've tried to keep my responses short, to-the-point and neutral, and from this point on will not be responding to her at all. I leave it in your hands. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 15:45, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Now she's butting in on conversations to make irrelevant and insufferable complaints about the term "beta". Our beta pages are already in line for a renaming discussion on the forum, so her continued dead-horse-beating about it is becoming annoyingly disruptive. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 19:02, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Never mind; already addressed by another staff member almost simultaneously to my posting this. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 19:03, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

She is now refusing other users', including ArcToraphim's, insistence that her addition to Siebold is unnecessary, and she has re-added the information three times in a row. Edit warring? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 21:22, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Can I also report her for all the irritating "mayhap"s she's lately been spamming in edit summaries? It's just like her complaints about Bisharp (before she got bored of that), her hidden comments (before she got temporarily banned for them) and the Reshiram party sprite she continues to spam on talk pages: There's no point to it and yet she feels the need to do it almost everywhere she goes. I'm really sick of her trolling in general, but this is especially grinding on my last nerve. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 04:29, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
Continued trolling: writing inaccurate edit summaries in which she claims to be doing something she had been repeatedly overruled on. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 14:58, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Further harping on Georgia's Bisharp, which she has been repeatedly told (including by Kenji-Girl, iirc) doesn't merit its own page. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 15:10, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Despite being "a joke, can't u see" (see also every single revision since she created it), Relicant's user page is outrageously abusing our guidelines on image use. I know it's a user page, but still. "A joke" should not be a viable reason for something to waste our server space (see: our userspace guidelines on games, missions, riddles, etc; I think this falls under the same spirit), and there is no other plausible reason for this abuse. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 17:24, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

And now she's repeatedly harassing me on my talk page about the fact that I reported this to you. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 21:36, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
me butting in. apologies. I was not harassing you over anything, 0192. harassment would be me leaving a message on your talk page everytime you bring up an accusation here. --The Truth aka Relicant 00:08, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Jo, the warning on the top of the page says that we cannot steal information from other sites. Does this include sprites and other images? Because Serebii seems to have all of the Generation VI sprites, but I want to get clearance before I copy them. I wasn't sure if "information" literally meant information or if it was a broad term for "anything at all". the great MIKORO (talk to me) 14:48, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Anything. We've had Serebii get angry in the past when users would take his images and upload them here. Likewise, they're not supposed to take anything from us. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 18:32, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. I can't help wondering where they got them from... maybe I can find out and take them from there instead. the great MIKORO (talk to me) 19:46, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
As far as I know, he has a capture device so he probably gets them off the Poké Dex screen as he registers them. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:34, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
But how does he remove the background and everything else like that? I didn't think it was possible to make something in need of a lot of changes (to be adequate) so phantasmagoric... the great MIKORO (talk to me) 13:38, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
There are hundreds of photo-editing softwares out there. Photoshop, and GIMP are two popular ones. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 15:40, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Oh. I never thought of that. Thanks. And by the way, can you take me off forced preview? I do still want it, but I would rather have it set under my preferences instead of an administrative punishment. I just don't want to come across as an incompetent user to other administrators who are able to see which users are under which types of punishments. the great MIKORO (talk to me) 17:28, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Dub stuff

Seeing that you're in regular contact with Tom Wayland, can you do so regarding the characters, Okura, Tokuzō, and Anima since they are missing dub names and voice actors, and Tom usually solves the problem? The former two have been out for a while so they would be more likely forgotten. PattyMan 04:46, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

I think we should make a "shiny dex" which would have the shiny sprites of all the Pokemon. It could be one page and just have the shiny sprites of each pokemon alongside a link to their page. It would make trying to find a pokemonx shiny form a lot easier and now that x and y has been out for nearly two months we should know the shiny forms of most all of them now, so I can't think of a better time to start. Should we do it? MawileCeyvis (talk) 19:48, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Just check this page. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 20:13, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Wow thanks! But it does need Kalos pokemon, I'll see if I can help with that. MawileCeyvis (talk) 04:26, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

One of these days I'll understand this mess

So, just while digging around, I found this discussion that I started a few months ago. While I understand the responses... maybe someone can one day explain to me all of this. My apologies if I sound like I'm prying into the past of Bulbapedia, but my curiosity gets the better of me sometimes. Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 07:25, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

It's not important. Don't worry about it. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 08:53, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
Very well. I shall not. Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 05:43, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Project Trivia

I was wondering if I could start project trivia. But it seems like it would not be needed. I said this to an administrator.

"Do you know if a project on trivia sections would be useful? Maybe could start it? I like to edit trivia sections, like on the page of Pikachu, I stated that Pikachu is the only usable Pokémon in the Japanese Pokémon Stadium that is not fully evolved."

I also asked her if I should ask an Editorial Board. Then she said I should ask an Editorial Board but, she also said we try not focus on trivia sections. So do you think I could start this, or would it be unneeded? - unsigned comment from Ethan7 (talkcontribs)

Personally I think a Trivia Project is completely unnecessary. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 23:50, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Okay. So I guess I should not start it, But Thanks for answering my question.----Ethan (Talk) 03:04, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Another Question

I have another question. You know how there are texts you can click on to "Show/Hide" other texts. I was wondering you could tell me the coding to make those. Thanks.----Ethan (Talk) 03:33, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Knock, knock...

Hello! Just a factual question here. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I didn't know where else to turn. Anyways, I'm playing my FireRed game, and looking at the article for Trainer Tower, I see that some of the pokémon are holding some pretty impressive and rare items. So, I boot up my TM46 thief for Raichu, and tackle the tower. And I use thief. Twice. To no avail. What went wrong? Is it just that thief isn't 100% foolproof, or the facility won't allow for theft (yes, I made sure Chu wasn't holding anything)? Thanks in advance, and if you respond here, that's fine, but preferably my talk page, please? Anyway, toodles! --SillyWynaut96 (talk) 19:23, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

I imagine any stolen items are given back to the other trainer after the battle. The thing about Towers and Frontier-like facilities is that they pretty much reset once you leave. (That's why none of the Pokémon seen are recorded in the Poké Dex.) I haven't played FireRed in years, so I'm just going off the mechanics of Thief around that time. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 21:20, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Okay... Sigh, I guess I'll never have my liechi berry...--SillyWynaut96 (talk) 23:12, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

Egg Hatch Template Request for Use

May I please use the Egg Hatch Template on your talk page in my own talk page? Groudon 60 (talk) 17:56, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

I would have really preferred you wait for my response before you started using them. Had you waited, I would have said yes, but I can't let theft go unpunished. Please remove my templates from your talk page, and write your own codes. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 22:20, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Ya sorry about that, but I was actually just putting it there so I would remember it in case you said yes; I have a horrible memory, and just wanted to watch it hatch, knowing otherwise I would have forgotten to check here. Now the question is, where are you supposed to code on Bulbapedia? I know how to, but where do I type it up? Everyone's templates are always just links. As a matter of fact, I almost forgot just now to sign this.... :O -Groudon 60 (talk) 18:27, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Yuko Minaguchi in M16

There's some confusion over Minaguchi's role in the movie, so can you please tell me which Twitter account confirmed she was Chill Drive Genesect? --The Great Butler (talk) 01:31, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

Tom posted that she had a role on Twitter, and then confirmed her role after I asked him about it. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 01:57, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Okay, thank you.
Really got to stop being so scatterbrained... is there any chance one of you can ask him about the Burn and Shock Genesect? I'd really like to finish up that article but those two will be impossible without an official word. --The Great Butler (talk) 04:21, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
