User tag suggestion

Hey ElectAbuzzzz, I dunno if you're the right person to ask, but I made this user tag because I couldn't dind one in the Template: space. I was wondering if you think it would be good enough for the mainspace (I was quite surprised when I foiund out that there wasn't alreay one: {{User:Silver Eevee/User Pokerus}}
Silver Eevee talk? contribs! 05:48, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

According to our usertag policy, five users must first be using the template, and two admins need to approve it. You can count me as one admin, now you just need to wait for 4 users and another admin. I can't mainspace it before that. --electAbuzzzz 09:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Template

Hey I made a template Called User:BrokenMotor/User Curse in the userspace and I found out that there is one just like it and since I don't have the power to delete things I was hoping you could. BrokenMotor 19:40, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

FAC Guidelines

Under the new requirements, is any FAC that is currently nominated but has an incomplete template unable to become an FA, or disqualified?--Smartkidhen (So I saw this sign that said Red VelvetTeam Galatic has plans!) 13:56, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Lyrics to If We Only Learn

Hey, I got a source to the lyrics. I know CN cut off the song with commercials, but I recorded it straight off my TV and got the whole song. More on the talk page... also, is that the actual title of the song, "If We Only Learn" I'm not sure if that's right. Vhayes1992 19:46, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

That's awesome about the lyrics, thanks. As for the naming - no, I'm not 100% sure. I took the name off an interview that PIRN did with the artist - it's easily found on Youtube. That's not 100% reliable, but that's what we're using unless someone can prove differently by showing me the credits. --electAbuzzzz 22:28, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Welcoming users question

Hey Buzz, just wondering if non-administrator users can use the "welcome" template on a new user's talk page, as sometimes I seem to be the only one online when a new users sign up. Okay, thanks. Silver Eevee talk? contribs! 06:42, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Question about manga changes

Hi there... I was wondering if you could give a little more detail about the staff discussion that lead to the change from SPECIAL to Adventures, PPP to MPJ, switched Blue and Green, etc.. Was it only related to those specific issues, or more generally to the use of English names on the English project?
Despite the timing, I’m less interested in the argument caused by my recent rash and unfortunate actions( although it would disingenuous to suggest that I haven’t considered the relationship between that and my question) and more curious about the use of in-article terminology. Specifically, I’m wondering about the use in prose, headers, and article titles of the term “Round” for the smaller subdivisions of PA Chapters. It makes sense in Japanese where most of them are named “VS[Pokémon]”, but those are not the names in the Viz translations, nor( most of) the Chuang Yi volumes. Accordingly, CY and the Viz 1st editions call them Chapters( which admittedly could be confusing), while the Viz reprints call them Adventures. I don’t think it makes sense to keep calling them rounds, especially in light of the shift towards English.
Is there any opinion or consensus from the aforementioned discussion that would have a bearing on that? I intend to bring it up in the Project discussion soon but I would like to know the hard facts about the staff’s recent decision going in. I’m asking you specifically because you gave the most helpful answer to my question there about the reasons for the sudden policy reversal. Thanks! --LaprasBoi 13:57, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Well, that's a good question... But I'll have to discuss it with CoolPikachu and our Editorial Board. Generally - yes, we're an English wiki, and we prefer English names, with the sole exception of epicodes (PS001 will not be changes to PA001. And yes, there's a reason for that, but I won't go into it now). We can't use chapters, because the story arcs are referred to as chapters in Adventures. We for ADVENTURE 001... Well, a lot of manga series use names like that for their chapters (I can think of Mezase!! Card Master and Pocket Monsters Platinum: Aim to Be Battle King!! which use "BATTLE 1", Pokémon Gotta Catch 'Em All which uses "GET 1"). We still prefer chapters for consistency, but again, we can't use chapters in Adventures. I'll talk to the others about it. --electAbuzzzz 14:10, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Though I don’t understand the reasoning,I don’t really care about epicode format too much, more about full-word terminology used in article names and text. Please let me know how the discussion goes. --LaprasBoi 15:34, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Aerodactyl pic

Is the Aerodactyl pic at Gary Oak enough good quality or should someone replace it? --FinnishPokéFan92 19:32, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

List of Pokémon by anime debut

Hi, I noticed you replaced my list of Pokémon with a redirect. I hadn't seen the page List of Pokémon by anime debut, as it wasn't linked from List of Pokémon, but I have added it there now. However there are a couple of sortability problems with this page, as:

  • Page is split into sections so is not globally sortable.
  • Page does not place movies in their proper place within the order.
  • "AG" episodes will always be placed before "EP", when actually it was the other way around, etc.

I was trying to create a page which would be globally sortable, regardless of the generation or media type. Should such a list be on a separate page or the same page? Kidburla 19:09, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Globally sortable is a good thing, as is an EP-AG-DP sortability list... What we'd have to do to make AG go first would be to comment out its EP epicode (for example, AG001 is EP275, DP001 is EP467). And that's a pain. TTEchidna 20:10, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Other than the fact that Snover debuted in PK19 and Abomasnow and Frosslass debuted in PK20, and so on. MaverickNate 20:15, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't know if we have the right settings to do this on our wiki, but this might be useful. —darklordtrom 23:15, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
It works, we have several sortable tables and I myself made the list of games by release date sortable... you can add an invisible span thingy to make things sort the way you want... That is how the evolution column works over at Wikipedia’s full List of Pokemon. I would suggest using a text editor to insert them with replace all. I can do the basic work very quickly and easily... inserting the movies may be trickier though. I’ll show you what I have in mind as a first step when I get back from breakfast. --LaprasBoi 15:34, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
{{Sort}}. There. I created it and it works. Feel free to use it. First parameter is the sort key, second one is the link (leave it blank if it's the same as 1), third is if you don't want a link but regular text. --electAbuzzzz 16:19, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Excellent... I just did the sorting QND for now, but I may try to implement the template in the next few weeks if no one else does. --LaprasBoi 19:47, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Template:P

There are some suggestions on the talk page from another user and from me, good ideas that we cannot implement, since link templates are protected. --LaprasBoi 19:47, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Editing the P template is something we do only if there's a very good reason to, because it gives a server a LOT of work to do. Alttext already exists, as you can see here. Section linking... I don't see why that's necessary. We hardly ever link to sections on Pokémon pages, so we can do it manually on the rare cases we need it. --electAbuzzzz 20:09, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Brainwave

I just thought of an idea for a Pokédex template.

I'm thinking it'd go down as {{pokedex}} but there's already some kind of text there, so I don't know if I should overwrite it... anyways, the code would be [[List of Pokémon by {{{1|}}} Pokédex number|{{{1|}}} Pokédex]], and you just put the parameter in as National, Johto, New, Hoenn, or Sinnoh, and it'll save on some bytes. What do you think? I'd be happy to do all the laborious work, too. --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 15:16, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, I deleted {{pokedex}} because it was only used by a user who hasn't been active in nearly 3 years. Thing is, we're not entirely sure whether or not we really need that link template you suggested. I mean, how often do we use such links? --electAbuzzzz 21:37, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
They're on pretty much all the number disambigs, and that was really where the idea came from. I dunno, I just thought it was worth a shot. --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 22:02, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Anyways, I went and made one that works a little differently so it can be compatible with Browsers (and maybe some other ones that I'm not aware of)→User:Oz/Pokedex. I just think it could help cut down space and make things neater, in case the need arises for it to be used somewhere outside disambigs (like in a "X_(type)" page or something). If you don't like it, or still don't think you need it, just feel free to delete it and put a message on my talk page. Thanks for listenin'! --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 15:21, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
It's true that such a template would've saved bytes on the numbers disambigs had it been created in advance - but you're forgetting that every revision is saved, and therefore the existing revisions would still be on the server and no actual room will be saved. Since we don't use such links on almost nothing but those number disambigs, I don't see what the point of the template would be. --electAbuzzzz 16:27, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
D'oh! Oh well, thanks for the speedy reply. :) --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 17:00, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light

I'm guessing you haven't seen Serebii.net this morning? If you had, you would've slapped a cleanup tag on the page instead of deleting it. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 14:11, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Seeing what you put on VampireBidoof's talk page, it seems you actually think that the article was false. You need to see Serebii.net. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 14:15, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
I haven't, I never go to Serebii. But that's not the point. The naming was all wrong. And now that I did check Serebii, it says "first details of CoroCoro are starting to leak", "seem to indicate the possibility of a new game", "rumoured to be called", "It is said that CoroCoro", etc. Let's wait just a tad more, until the details are clearer. --electAbuzzzz 14:17, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

The information isn't false about the game. On serebii they put pictures of your character riding on raikou. --VampireBioof

Again, read what I just wrote to MM above your comment. --electAbuzzzz 14:24, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
That was written before they did leak. At first the only credibility was though a common blog which is 0 and then the magazine scans came out which says a lot more than some random blog :p Most of that wording though is from before the scans got out there. Yaminokame 14:24, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
That's all good, but we're gonna translate this ourselves as soon as our American Japanese-knowing users wake up. We do not, as a rule, take whatever's on Serebii's main page and put it up. Definitely not in the way VampireBidoof tried to. --electAbuzzzz 14:27, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
No, I know lol. I'm just informing that the scans are good and it's not in the speculation phase anymore :p Yaminokame 14:30, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

I would like to make my user page like yours but I don't know how. I'd appriciate it if you would let me know. --Vampirebidoof 14:43, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

What exactly do you want to know? The best way to learn wiki-coding is by looking at existing coding. You want something that my userpage has? Click "edit" and read the code (but don't actually edit it!). You're welcome to copy any coding you'd like. --electAbuzzzz 14:45, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Just one problem - there's no "edit" button! lol--Vampirebidoof 14:52, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Right, that's because my userpage is protected, I forgot that. Only admins can edit protected pages, but regular users can still view the code. On protected pages, instead of of the usual "edit this page" button on top, you're suppose to see a "view source", or something like that. --electAbuzzzz 14:56, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Thx. --Vampirebidoof 17:37, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

No, it's not based on starter. It's just themes we've come up with. See the list we're working on here. It's not just these nav templates - it's the VA tables, and the tables on Ash's friends, and soon the new character infoboxes... --electAbuzzzz 23:37, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Administrator Registration !!!

Hey Buzzz, I was wondering, is there any special kind of rule for being an admin? Is there any registration form or a task is required to be an admin of bulbapedia? I'm sorry, but it's not exactly an asking system... We promote users who we feel have earned their powers and can put them to good use. Asking won't get you there, I'm afraid. You're a good user, but you still have a way to go before we can consider it (for example, your edit count is still 3 digits... Not that that's the only thing we look at, but yeah). --electAbuzzzz 13:03, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I can understand (sorry for asking about it, I didn't knew that). Wait, you said "But yeah". What does that suppose to mean? Sorry, I am not yelling (I am asking, it looks like I am yelling :D). --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 13:12, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I guess I should talk simpler to users who aren't native English speakers (I'm not a native speaker myself, but... nevermind). I just meant that there are a lot of things we look at, edit count being one of them. Yes, you need to have more edits. No, having more edits will not automatically mean you can join the staff. We look at the quality of your contributions, at how well you follow our guides and policies, and other stuff. As I said, you're a good user - but I wouldn't expect anything soon. Stay on a good path, and maybe you'll get there in the future. --electAbuzzzz 13:31, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I will try my level best. Anyway, thanks a lot for the information buzzz. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 13:37, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

You can use it. Just try to not edit your userpage more than two or three times a day. R.A. Hunter Blade 00:40, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Hebrew Translation

Hey, I was considering translating Bulbapedia, or at least the most important parts of it, to Hebrew. Do you think that there are still people who need a translation? If so, how would you recommend starting off such a project?

Thanks, Oren. --Grubdubdub 13:55, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Well Oren, While there is still an Israeli fan community, and while I have toyed with the idea in the past myself, I don't think there's much point to such a project, mainly because the Pokémon games aren't officially translated to Hebrew, and there is no official Hebrew spelling to anything in the Pokémon world. Also, pretty much all Israelis speak pretty good English. If you do still really want to start something like that... Well, I might help if I'll have time. --electAbuzzzz 15:12, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Question !!!

Hi Peter, I am sorry for bugging you again but I want to know something about bulbapedia's quality standard.

What does This synopsis does not yet meet the quality standards of Bulbapedia exactly mean?
Can you explain it in details? Thank you. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 14:32, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
First, Peter's my last name, not my first :) second, that notice basically means that the synopsis is of low quality for any number of reasons - too short, too long, bad grammar, no links, bad language... In short, it's for synopsis that still need improvements. --electAbuzzzz 15:15, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Ohhhh, thanks Gal :P --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 15:17, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

RE: RE: Stop

Would like to use project for listing all posible Pokemon Events - unsigned comment from Deityofantimatter (talkcontribs)

There are loads of events like the DPP wifi ones, the generation 1, 2 & 3 ones, and the special promotions, like the toys r us regigigas, and all the random ones no-one has ever heard of.

Need some assistance!

Hey gal, can you please help me in creating a new article? I have decided to create an article on Super Sinnoh Sticker Book (saw it on wanted articles list). Can you tell me what kind of information do I have to use/put into this article. I mean what kind of material (summary / details or something like that) is needed to create this article? and what are the basics things regarding this article? Thank you. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 16:29, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Take a look at Pokémon Stickédex for example. --electAbuzzzz 19:15, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 03:13, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Gal, I started to work on the article today and provided some basic info about it. Can you have a look at this please. Thank you. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 11:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Looks fine to me. Not complete, but fine for mainspace. --electAbuzzzz 11:45, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Cool, so can I move it to the main space as "Super Sinnoh Sticker Book"? --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 11:53, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for moving it. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 11:58, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey Gal, I created another article which is about All-New Collector's Sticker Book. Have a look on it please and check whether it is ready for a mainspace article or not (sorry for bugging you everytime but I need an administrator who can check those articles and approve them as a mainspace one). Well, I know that the article is too short but I tried hard to find the basic info and I used what I got. Thank you. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 15:13, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
It's fine. I moved it. You don't have to create every article in your userspace, BTW. It's fine to create the article straight away, if it's up to standards. --electAbuzzzz 15:21, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
First, Thanks a lot for moving it. Second, I'll try to keep that thing in mind. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 15:25, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey Gal, I was just about to write an article on Pokémon Activity Book but the problem is that there are two books with the exact same name (nothing is mentioned about the volume on both books). One was published in 1999 and other one in 2009. Then which book should I mentioned in the article? --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 17:03, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
No idea. Talk to Virtual-Z, he's Project Leader. --electAbuzzzz 17:39, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey gal, can you please unprotect ash's article now? Everything has been officially revealed, articles are available but still ash's article is under protection. (I didn't wanted to create a new section for this single thing, so sorry for that). --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 13:20, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Cheese and Pudding

A user with this name has been vandalizing the Pokemon Emerald page. Can you do something about it?--Purimpopoie 14:13, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Asking for unprotect

As you're the one who protected the pages for Gold and Silver, can I ask you to unprotect them? The first official HGSS chapter has been released in this month's Grade 4, so it's not gunjumping anymore. Those evolutions were shown in the chapter and are now confirmedly confirmed. --Maxim 14:20, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

M13

Update the article please. The new poster is in the talk page (most bottom now). tc²₆tc26 12:21, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Ummm... I already did that, like, over an hour ago. --electAbuzzzz 12:23, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Overlooked it. Sorry about that. tc²₆tc26 12:44, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Template protection

Now as Ash's Torterra has evolved, I wonder if protection of Template:Ash's Pokémon is necessary anymore? --FinnishPokéFan92 12:29, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Seeing how you're the first admin I saw....

There needs to be three new articles protected; Rioka, Kuroto, and Crown City. I got Echy to protected variations of Rioko and Kuroto's names along with Kodai's. --ギザみみピチュー 話して 13:06, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Erm, why? I mean, we have some information on these things now, why not create the articles? Or at least make them protected redirects to M13? Kidburla 11:57, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
We do not have enough information about them. Creating the articles now would be very premature. We prefer to avoid that. --electAbuzzzz 11:59, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Since you're not on AIM...

What do you mean by it messes with the borders? I'm using Mozilla to see and it looks fine. --Coolピカチュウ! 20:07, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

That's because I added the missing Japanese ISBNs. Try viewing one with, say, a North American ISBN entered but no Japanese one, and you'll see what I mean. Now, I can fix that of course with more coding. The question is: do I need to? I mean, it's not possible for any volume to be released only outside of Japan. --electAbuzzzz 21:03, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
That's true but I just wanted it there because some of them don't have ISBN put yet on the Wiki and it looks ugly without the ISBN, no? But that's my view on this. --Coolピカチュウ! 21:07, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

M01 screenshots

Here are the screenshots you requested of me yesterday. (I do also have episodes with some of those other custom-sprited Pokemon that I could screencap for you, but I'll have to check if I'll be able to screencap those DVDs without having to change my DVD drive's region settings again...)

Anyway.

Some of the shots I chose don't look so great, but I thought they were the best of the ones I got... if there are any that you don't like, IM me later so that I can show you what else I have. XD 梅子 22:23, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

You're totally awesome xD Thanks! --electAbuzzzz 22:57, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Mart or shop template?

I asked CoolPikachu about this, but I need extra input since TTEchidna's talk page is locked. Which template is to be used on city pages, Template:Mart or Template:Shop? Thanks! --rockersk08 01:18, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Shop should gradually replace Mart. TTEchidna 01:48, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

My common.css, plz. On a side note, I can't seem to get my Common.css to work... ht14 19:43, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Did you bypass your browser's cache? That's what worked for me on another wiki for the common.css... CuboneKing 19:46, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I did. ht14 19:55, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
And @ Buzz, I only wanted to get rid of common.css, not Common.css... sorry... ht14 19:56, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Retreiving Sprites

If its not to much trouble i would like them all: the mewtwo colnes, the egg sprites, and other. But if thats too much trouble the egg sprites would do. Spritester 03:27, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Killable usertags

I was thinking we could kill off just about all of the Time zone tags except perhaps the first two (athough the second could probably be included into the first). If this is OK-ed I can do it myself if necessary, I was just asking permission.--MisterE13 13:58, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

It's something to think about, but don't touch anything yet. Big usertag changes will wait until the 504s are over. --electAbuzzzz 20:54, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Just say the word when the time comes and I'll get on it.--MisterE13 20:57, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Retrieving sprites

Can u retrieve the egg sprites from Project:CustomSprites that would be very much appreciated. DoTheWave 00:36, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Sandbox help.

Hi ..Do you think you would be able to help me with the layout of my sandbox article? Thanks I would really appreciate as I think it would be a useful asset to the Project music.--Solid! 03:28, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Need some help

As you notice I am help updating with the links for Brock on all anime-related matters, however there are a few pages I can't get to due to protection such as Pokémon universe or Movie 13, could you do that for me? -Tyler53841 20:55, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Done. --electAbuzzzz 21:07, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
