How do I request a tempate?
The talk page of this page is the best place to ask. Asking a particular user may get overlooked if the user forgets or becomes inactive. Please follow the following format:
- ==Name of requested template==
- Description of the template. This must include what it should do and where it would be used. If there are any particular exceptions that the template needs to be able to handle, be sure to mention them here, as well as anything else that you think will be helpful. You're also welcome to suggest a layout for the template. ~~~~
Please remember to sign your request with four tildes, just like any other talk page. Make sure to keep an eye on your request, in case more info is needed.
Can I help?
Of course. Please leave a message below the request to let other people know that you're working on it, then go to it. Once you're done, use the talk page of the template you made to test it, and leave a link to the test page in the request section. If something's proving tricky or problematic, be sure to mention it. If progress is proving slow, you don't have to completely finish it before posting a link to the template. Even a wikicoded design is better than nothing. Just keep the page updated - if you can't figure out how to fit it all together once you get started, just say so. Nobody's going to growl at you for giving it a go, but someone might if we don't hear anything for more than a week.
What happens next?
People will be given a chance to comment on the test page. Staff may also discuss the proposed template privately. If everything is ready for the template, a staff member may move it to the templatespace. If further work and/or refinement is required, that should predominantly be discussed on the new template's test page.
Once the template is moved to the templatespace, a staff member will place the section into a collapsible table at the top of the talk page to keep the page easy to navigate. The talk page will be archived at approximately 100kB.
