Helioptile and Alexa

Helioptile first appeared in The Journalist from Another Region!, in which it encountered Ash and his friends on Harvest Island. As Helioptile was a Pokémon not recognized by Ash's Pokédex, Ash wanted to battle it and catch it. Helioptile became scared and attacked him in retaliation, until Alexa came and told that it belonged to her. She also explained it was a Pokémon from the Kalos region. Later, Helioptile acted as a charger when Alexa needed to charge her recording equipment after the battery was low.

Helioptile joined Alexa on her journey through the Decolore Islands to Kanto, with Ash and his friends. During their travels, the timid Pokémon gradually warmed up to the group.

In The Dream Continues, Helioptile was being examined by Professor Oak, but proceeded to shock him in fear. Later, it traveled back to Kalos with Alexa and Ash.

Personality and characteristics

Helioptile is a very shy and timid Pokémon, and often hides behind Alexa when encountering something new. While it was initially hesitant of Ash, it would eventually befriend him as Alexa predicted, running into the young Trainer's arms in Where Dreams and Adventures Begin!. In The Dream Continues!, Helioptile showed it had developed a good relationship with Pikachu, often linking their electricity. Despite having become accustomed to others, it's still easily startled as shown in The Dream Continues!, when it shocked Professor Oak, and in Coming Back into the Cold!, in which it got startled by Dedenne.
