A Purple Kecleon named Reddy is first seen in The Kecleon Chaper under the ownership of [[Madison. Reddy and Greeny are first introduced by their trainers to Ash, Brock, and Misty by their trainers, who informed them they they were feeling under the weather. Brock was able to make them both feel better by feeding them treats, and the soon later happily retreated to their trainer's room on the ship. Eventually, Team Rocket boarded the ship and broke into the room, causing Reddy to run and hide.
It and Greeny get lost on the ship, Greeny with a box of jewelry in its mouth. Reddy is first spotted by Meowth in the cargo area. Jessie gets it to stick out its tongue, only to discover that it had a first-aid kit and not the jewelry box. The other Kecleon is spotted in the hallway, distracting the trio and allowing Reddy to escape.
Reddy is seen again with Greeny in another cargo area, where they exchange the boxes they had in their mouth several times, confusing the trio. The two eventually escape and with the help of Ash, Misty, and Brock are able to make it past Team Rocket and back to their trainers. Once outside, a battle commenced, where Madison and Alexa joined in with their Kecleon. Madison had Reddy use lick attack against Arbok, which made Arbok uncomfortable. After the fight was won, the two women said goodbye to Ash and his friends as the three watched them sail away.

Spin-off series
A Purple Kecleon makes an appearance in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate!. This Kecleon was one of the two Kecleon Brothers whom ran a shop for other Pokémon. After happily greeting Team Go-Getters, the two informed the trio that their entire stock had been cleaned out. Just before the trio left, they were informed that the customers that had taken their entire stock were another trio by the name of Team Meanies.
This same Purple Kecleon was seen again with the same role in the animated adaptation of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness. Here, he again sold items of a trio of Pokémon protagonist.
