Reception bar in green (top right)

The reception of the Pokégear is shown on the upper right corner. When there is at least one bar, then the phone call will reach out, while if there are no bars, the phone call will not reach. Certain places deliberately do not give out connection in Generation II, most likely to not distract the Trainer while in the middle of an important part of the storyline. Even when there may be reception for phone service however, some areas do not provide any radio service, as seen in the Goldenrod Game Corner.

• Goldenrod Radio Tower
• Goldenrod Tunnel
• Basement of Goldenrod Department Store

Trivia

• The Goldenrod Radio Tower does not have any reception despite the tower itself sending out signals while the radio tower in Lavender Town has reception. This may be due to the Team Rocket takeover.
