Guzma's Golisopod (Japanese: グズマのグソクムシャ Guzma's Gusokumusha) is Guzma's main Pokémon in the anime, manga, and games.

In the anime

Emergency Exit activated

Prior to the start of the Sun & Moon series, Golisopod fought Professor Kukui and his Braviary. Braviary ultimately defeated the Hard Scale Pokémon with a Brave Bird.

Golisopod debuted in The Dealer of Destruction!, when Guzma sent it out to battle Ash and Pikachu. Golisopod battled well, managing to withstand Corkscrew Crash and even poisoning Pikachu. However, due to its Emergency Exit Ability, it abruptly returned to its Poké Ball, ending the match prematurely.

In The Road to the Semifinals!, Guzma used Golisopod in his battle against Lana during the Manalo Conference, where it went up against Primarina. Under Guzma's command, Golisopod showed no mercy against its opponent. Despite Primarina's best efforts to slow it down, Golisopod savagely attacked Primarina, badly poisoning and eventually defeating it.

In SM136, Guzma used Golisopod in his battle against Ash, where it went up against his Torracat. The battle was fierce, with Golisopod cutting through Torracat's Fire-type moves with Liquidation before it willingly used Emergency Exit, causing Scizor to come out. When Scizor was defeated, Guzma sent out Golisopod once more, but he was disappointed with how it cowardly used Emergency Exit to orchestrate Scizor's defeat. The battle continued in the next episode, where Golisopod managed to defeat Torracat before losing to Pikachu.

Personality and characteristics

Golisopod is a very strong Pokémon with great defense, as seen in The Dealer of Destruction!, where it was able to withstand the Z-Move Corkscrew Crash and poison Ash's Pikachu. This is shown again in The Road to the Semifinals! during its battle against Lana and her Primarina where it badly poisoned Primarina before defeating it. Its strength was further demonstrated when it used Liquidation to cut through a Z-Move, Primarina's Oceanic Operetta. Even when its arms were frozen, it still had enough strength to continue the battle without any sign of struggling.

Golisopod follows its Trainer's instructions to the last detail, as seen in The Road to the Semifinals!, where it savagely attacked Lana's Primarina without hesitation. It also shows concern towards its Trainer, as seen in The Road to the Semifinals!, when it looked back at Guzma.

Despite its strength and ruthlessness in battle, Golisopod is also a coward. This was demonstrated in SM136, when it used its Emergency Exit Ability to send Scizor out in its place, which resulted in Scizor's defeat and the costing of Guzma's strategy.

Golisopod in Pokémon Adventures

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

Prior to the start of the series, Guzma owned Golisopod as a Wimpod, who eventually evolved. Golisopod first appeared in The Announcement and the Prize with its Trainer at the Iki Town festival. During the tournament, it battled Sun's Cent. Golisopod started with a super-effective First Impression and proceeded to beat the Scratch Cat Pokémon up. During its attacks, Sun attempted to protect Cent from an attack, but Golisopod continued the attack and broke Sun's arm for getting in the way. Golisopod then returned to Cent and slammed it into the ground. The battle seemed to be over, but Cent got back up, enraged after finding out that the coin on its head had gotten dirty due to Golisopod's claws being filthy from being a scavenger. It attacked furiously with its claws and defeated Golisopod with Pay Day, winning Sun the battle.

In PASM18, Golisopod was sent out to battle Gladion at Po Town to keep him from interfering with the Ultra Beasts. In the next chapter, it was separated from its Trainer when he got dragged into an Ultra Wormhole.

Personality and characteristics

Golisopod is a powerful and brutal Pokémon, having no issue with beating up its opponents, whether they be a Pokémon or human. It is a natural scavenger and will eat anything it can find, even if the food is rotten. As a result its claws are always filthy.
