Updating the Pokémon Center (Japanese: ポケセン改良依頼！ Request for Improvement of the Pokémon Center!) was a solo event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on sync pairs with the Gadgeteer theme skill.

During this event, players could earn Event Vouchers M from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. Obtaining 3,000 vouchers would unlock the story area Incomplete Things?. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The player could battle using Penny & Sylveon, Sophocles & Togedemaru, or Cyrus & Palkia to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted sync pairs with the Gadgeteer theme skill to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.

All sync pairs with the Gadgeteer theme skill received a bonus to their Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, and Sp. Def stats when used for this event, with the amount of the bonus varying between areas.

Plot

Trista asks Penny and Sophocles to update a machine in the Pokémon Center. When the two begin to work, they struggle with the machine's design. As they try to come up with a user interface, Jacq happens to walk over and offer his advice. Penny and Sophocles try to implement his ideas into the machine, but are stumped on how to do it. Right as the two begin to lose hope, a voice speaks out to Sophocles from nearby.

Penny and Sophocles turn to see Cyrus approaching them. To their surprise, Cyrus asks them to step aside, then goes over to the machine. He explains to the two that they have overcomplicated the design. He then simplifies it, allowing the machine to work properly. When Sophocles asks Cyrus why he would help them, he tells them that he cannot stand to see something incomplete. Cyrus leaves, and Sophocles calls out to him to thank him for his help. The only thing left for Penny and Sophocles to do is add the final touches.

One day, Trista asked Sophocles and Penny to upgrade a machine in the Pokémon Center.
Sophocles	So, we need to add user-friendly functions for people to use while they're waiting... I'm gonna use ALL the knowledge I gained from my inventions to come up with great ideas!
Penny	Hmmm...so, what functions should we add? Maybe we could implement a feature where people can view info about other Trainers or Pokémon?
Sophocles	Hey, that's a great idea! We could even make it a bit like a Pokédex and add something like...
(Transition to Penny and Sophocles standing in front of the machine)
Sophocles	Hmm... This is really hard...
Penny	I'm totally blanking on a UI that'd vibe well with a Pokémon Center...
