Why does Seaking represent Homosexuality?

Just wondering. Telme 22:49, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I believe it is due to the species name is Seaking, but that species can also be female. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 22:52, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
People steryotype. Just look at Seaking ad you might get itDCM((曲奇饼妖怪Spy on My Edits))
I still don't see the homosexuality of Seaking, DCM. Telme 23:54, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I dont know. I've made this: , if you want to use it K3000 20:26, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

So were is the user is a lesbian tag? Random Chaos 21:27, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

I thought homosexual meant both gay and lesbian. Just because the template's name has one of them doesn't mean the template itself is like that.. - s.Combusken 21:29, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
It does mean both. And gay does too, technically. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 21:30, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

So we are basing the icon on the fact that this Pokémon supposedly plays into stereotypes ...and no one else find this offensive? Besides, being transsexual or transvestite is not at all the same as being gay. If we were going for trans, AzurillMarillis more fitting... --LaprasBoi 02:27, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Suggesting a change

I heard that penguins are known to have homosexual relationships. Maybe it should be changed to Piplup, Prinplup, or Empoleon. Having a Seaking due to its frills seems ridiculous to me. But I guess the user could just change the pictures on their pages. --ケンジガール 23:58, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Do do do. Techinically all animals are capable of having homosexual relationships, eg my neighbors dog is "gay", but thats seems kinda obscure. if were gonna make a gay tag might as well make it something predictable, everyone would know.DCM((曲奇饼妖怪Spy on My Edits)) 00:00, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
From what I have learned, Salamanders are all 100% female, and they release their eggs by having sex with one another, even though they are both female. The eggs are already fertilized in their bodies, they just need to have lesbian sex in order to get them out of their bodies. So, what salamander Pokémon are there? MaverickNate 00:41, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Charmander? But it's a Pokémon people like so much, I don't think a lot of people would like it associated with homosexuality.. - espeonA 00:44, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
It's only one species of lizard, that's all I can remember. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 00:46, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Being a single-sexed species is not the same as being gay, since those species have no other physically possible sexuality. --LaprasBoi 02:27, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
I agree with the OP, while many species of animals can have homosexual tendencies,( including gulls, ducks, giraffes, and lions, among others) penguins in particular are some of the best publicized, because they tend to couple for long periods of time( though elephants may too), not just during mating behavior, and especially because several gay penguin couples in captivity have been given eggs and successfully hatched them and raised chicks, often being praised by zookeepers as excellent parents. One couple even had a children’s book about them and their chick. I definitely think the best icon would be a penguin Pokémon - I am tentatively changing it – we can definitely decide on something else later, but let’s get Seaking out of there, not to mention those horrid colors. Or maybe two Empoleon with a Piplup hatching from an egg at their feet, if anyone can be bothered – Kalot?
I also tried to make the text pride colors, but it didn’t quite work out:
  Th i s u se r i s homosexual.
...thoughts? By the way, if the admins choose to disregard this whole discussion and revert it against reason, can I use variables to change the pic and colors on my own page? How would that be formatted? --LaprasBoi 02:27, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Changes should be discussed before being done. I've changed the defaults back to the original, but the colors and image can all be changed. Directions are on the template page. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 03:10, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
...I thought that all the numerous comments on the page here constitute a discussion? We may not have reached an agreement yet on how it should look, but there seems to be a pretty clear agreement that the Seaking, at least, is inappropriate. Thanks for the additional variables and instructions, though. Should add them to the Bi and Trans templates too... --LaprasBoi 03:34, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

"User Gay" versus "User Homosexual"

Just bringing this up, but we have "User Asexual" and "User Heterosexual", which makes this one the odd puppy of the three. Had "User Heterosexual" been "User Straight", maybe not so much, so can we change one? Preferably this one in case anyone bothers to add the remaining classifications of sexual orientation? Customizable text

Can the text on this maybe be customizable? I'm not entirely comfortable with the word "homosexual" due to its clinical history. I'd much rather be able to say "gay", or specify "lesbian". golgothasTerror (talk) 15:50, 24 September 2016 (UTC)
