Stat boosts

Just a minor style note, wouldn't it be a little easier to replace the "Attack, Defense, Sp Attack, Sp Defense, Speed +1" text with just "All Stats +1"? Kohdok (talk) 06:45, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

The totem auras don't boost accuracy and evasion, so "all stats" is inaccurate. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 06:46, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

Movesets?

Should we incorporate the moves the Totems and their allies use on the page as well? Serebii.net has them listed on the Island Trials subsection of its Sun/Moon page. I would enter them myself, but I am uncertain of how to do so without breaking the formatting. --UB00 (talk) 06:43, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

It's not really worth it here. It's already on location pages. Tiddlywinks (talk) 06:50, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
To add to that, we can't steal information from other fansites, so even if we wanted to include them, we'd have to compile them ourselves (since if Serebii has an error and we duplicate that error, it's strong evidence that we've stolen from them). Totem Pokémon being an "alternate form".

Hey, aren't the Totems just bigger versions of their normal counterparts, if one were to take away the aura? For instance, a regular Gumshoos is much smaller than the protagonist, but a Totem-size Gumshoos is almost taller than the player character. Technically, they're an "alternate variation" of their normal counterparts, with no difference in moves, stats, etc. Would this be worth noting? Also, I've discovered that if Totem-size Pokemon are hacked into the save, then they cannot be traded via GTS/Wonder Trade.IM-T-MAN2 (talk) 16:14, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

I don't think there's much worth to trying to note it. It's not really going to affect most people in any way, and it doesn't affect anything we cover on any other pages on BP... It's the sort of thing that'd probably fit better within a more technical page, like Structures pages. Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:23, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
If I remember correctly, it was discovered that Totem Pokémon have a weight four times that of their regular counterparts, so they might count as alternate forms in that regard. But other than a link on Variant Pokémon, I don't think there's much use in considering them alternate forms. --SnorlaxMonster 03:22, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
Lana mentions that the Totem Pokémon are specially trained, which implies they aren't separate forms. --HoennMaster 04:52, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
I didn't interpret that to mean that the Captains took regular Pokémon and specially trained them to be Totem Pokémon, I took it to mean that they specially trained Pokémon which were already Totem Pokémon to serve in their trials. --SnorlaxMonster 04:57, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

New Page for Special Auras in Sun and Moon?

Do you think a page where sun and moon's different auras can be presented, like the red Ultra Beast aura or the Totem Auras? Reshiespeon (talk) 18:49, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

18:53 edit: Oops, I just read something about the auras, so this is outdated, and I can't delete it. Sorry! Reshiespeon (talk) 18:52, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

SM025 moves

In the episode the Rattata and Raticate were seen using Bite. You can tell because it looks exactly the same as another Bite user, Rockruff, from the same series. The Totem one used Hyper Beam as well, which has always been clearly identified and still is. Is there any argument against this other than the fact that it wasent "100% identifiable".--Pikablu (talk) 17:03, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

People keep undoing the moves despite the fact that no one has given a reason here on why they shouldn't be mentioned. Talk pages sure get a lot done, all it's showing is that admins do what they want without consulting others or taking their ideas into account. Maybe the conversation can start now???--Pikablu (talk) 12:17, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Reasons were given in edit summaries and/or directly on talk pages for most of the users that were reverted, please don't pretend no reason's been given.
In that light: you, at least, know our policy. Personally, I refrained from commenting immediately so that others could voice any opinions they had and I could see what people think. I didn't want to lay out staff policy and seem to be shutting down discussion before it could even start. Apparently I was in a lose-lose scenario, though. =P Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:23, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Excuse my bluntness but... have you even read your talk page, Pikablu? Tiddlywinks left a message regarding this. Don't play the victim when you don't check your own talk page.--ForceFire 12:27, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
I concede that the biting move could have been Bite, Crunch, Super Fang or Hyper Fang; more likely one of the two latter but, indeed, we cannot tell. BUT Alolan Raticate can'teven learn Charge Beam. Don't throw the anime move errors, did anybody think it wasn't Hyper Beam? Surely, everybody thought "Oh, I like the new Hyper Beam animation" or something like that. It just seems daft to not put anything regarding moves in the infobox when it very clearly used two different moves. Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 14:29, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Why not? The writers don't have to follow the rules of the games, especially if it revolves around what moves a Pokémon can use. And we're not going to assume the writers are going to make a completely new animation for a move, until said new animation is proven to be the move. Other wise, we assume the move keeps its animation from the previous series.--ForceFire 03:17, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Can someone please mention that Raticate had Gumshoo's cry in Moon?

I was playing Moon, but when Raticate showed up in the cutscene, I heard Gumshoo's cry instead of Raticate. Can someone please add that? My trivia ban's still in effect. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 19:50, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

It's already mentioned at Verdant Cavern. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 19:51, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Totem allies

Would it be relevant to state that in the Vast Poni Canyon trial, Scizor is the only Pokemon that cannot be caught in the area as well as have any evolutionary relatives appear throughout the trial or in the area where the trial occurs? In Mallow's trial a Parasect and Shiinotic appear and in Kiawe's trial an Alolan Marowak appears(I'm not sure if Kiawe owns it, can someone clarify?) which cannot be captured in their respective trial sites. However those three all have pre-evolutionary relatives that appear in the area of the trial occurring while no Scizor can be found in the Vast Poni Canyon, nor any Scyther.Nikuriku (talk) 03:16, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

I think having to specify evolutionary relatives makes this unnotable. If you have to try too hard to make a point work, chances are it isn't notable. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 03:23, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
I know this is a bit old but even if I didn't specify, Scizor is still an ally which notably cannot be caught at all in the game, let alone the area. When looking at the Totem Pokemon page, I view it as being notable if I just state the fact as Scizor being the only Totem Ally who cannot be caught in the area. So I believe it would be relevant if I only look at it as referring to as ally Pokemon only.Nikuriku (talk) 07:30, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Held items

Is information about the totem Pokemons' held items notable enough to be added to the table? sumwun (talk) 15:26, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

This should not be a page to help you battle each Totem Pokemon, you can go to location pages for that. This page just presents basic information, which is already here just fine. Basically nothing else that can be added says anything about Totem Pokemon in particular. Tiddlywinks (talk) 15:31, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Edit war

At an attempt to resolve one of many edit wars on anime articles between Playerking95 and FinnishPokeFan92, I've added anchoring to all the anime sections so they can be listed in move and ability boxes with links to Totem Pokémon#Totem (name) or Totem Pokémon#Ally (name). This satisfies Playerking95's desire for a link directly to the proper section and FinnishPokeFan92's desire for a link to information on the specific Pokémon in question. I hope this can be satisfying to both of you. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 13:55, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Catching the Totem

When Ilima asks to put the Normal Z crystal on the pedestal and you have to battle the Totem again, can you catch it? Because you technically aren't doing the trial.......... -- Mira Zannah 16:28, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

I'm fairly sure you can't. Even though it isn't technically one, it is a trial in every other sense. Totem has boosts and can call allies like every other trial. Lanthanum (talk) 17:00, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Color issues

The background colour in the tables is the same colour as the S in SM, meaning it doesn't show up. Could someone who knows how the tables work should change the background colour of these tables to something else? Mijzelffan (talk) 11:52, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

??????

"Totem-sized Pokémon that appear in Pokémon Sun and Moon are the only ones that can be transferred over to Pokémon Bank, and can be traded over into original Sun and Ultra Moon. However, Totem-sized Pokemon that appear in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon cannot be transferred over to Pokémon Bank, and cannot be traded over into original Sun and Moon."

Surely this is a mistake? I'd replace the second bolded part with "Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon", but I might be wrong. Dinosauramiable (talk) 20:12, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

Never mind, it was changed now. It was talking about Totem Pokémon that originally appeared in Sun and Moon being tradeable from USUM to SM. Dinosauramiable (talk) 11:50, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

Requirements for obtaining Totem-sized Pokémon on USUM

Would it be notable to add info on the specific games (US or UM) where Samson Oak gives you each Totem-sized Pokémon, along with the number of Totem Stickers required for each one? (Also their levels.) All that info (except their levels) is available on the Official Alola Region Strategy Guide for USUM published by the Pokémon Company. --SilSinn (TIDs: 768426S, 123446UM) (talk) 00:18, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

P.S. Well, the Samson Oak article has the info I asked about above, so whether that should be repeated here or not is up to you. --SilSinn (TIDs: 768426S, 123446UM) (talk) 00:27, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

Follow-up to Totem Pokémon being an "alternate form".

On the talk section Totem Pokémon being an “alternate form” above, someone asked whether Totem Pokémon should be treated as alternate forms. Well, since Totem-sized Pokémon became obtainable on USUM, this question is worth revisiting. So far I obtained on my copy of UM: Raticate, Araquanid, Salazzle, Togedemaru, and Mimikyu; and via Wonder Trade I received Gumshoos. (Apparently, this Gumshoos was not hacked but rather legitimately obtained in US; otherwise it would have been blocked from being Wonder Traded.) Inspecting the Rotom-Dex, I discover that Totem-sized forms are not registered as alternate forms, not even in USUM. (I was able to deposit Gumshoos, Raticate, Salazzle, and Mimikyu into Pokémon Bank and brought them to my copy of S, and they also don’t register as alternate forms in the Rotom-Dex there.)

So, in summary, Totem Pokémon (and, consequently, Totem-sized Pokémon for that matter) are not treated by the game as alternate forms. Or, if they are internally treated as alternate forms, they are not reported to the Rotom-Dex (nor to the National Pokédex in Pokémon Bank), in pretty much the same fashion as Arceus, Genesect, and Furfrou’s alternate forms were not reported to the Pokédex before ORAS.

I hope this settles that two-year-old question above. --SilSinn (TIDs: 768426S, 123446UM) (talk) 00:39, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

Possible to trade USUM-exclusive Totem-sized Pokémon via GTS/Wonder Trade to other USUM players?

USUM-exclusive Totem-sized Pokémon cannot be deposited into Pokémon Bank, nor can they be traded to SM (regardless of trading method, whether regular, GTS, or Wonder). But no one has asked or answered whether such Pokémon can be still deposited into the GTS and reviewed/received by other USUM players, or Wonder Traded to other USUM users. (The non-USUM-exclusive ones can be Wonder Traded, as I witnessed when I received via Wonder Trade my Totem-sized Gumshoos on my copy of S, so I presume they can be also deposited into/received from GTS.) --SilSinn (TIDs: 768426S, 123446UM) (talk) 00:48, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
