Name source

Where did this name come from? I checked the official sites and it only mentioned, Pokémon the Series XY, similar to last season's omitting the Kalos Quest in the title card. PattyMan 23:31, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

The iTunes release. --Abcboy (talk) 00:29, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. The article would need some serious editing. PattyMan 00:43, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
iTunes also calls every Advanced Generation season "Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire". --HoennMaster 18:10, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
They use Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire as only a prefix (for lack of a better word) for all the seasons based on the respective series. The season titles themselves retain their original names. I guess they wanted to go for a consistent naming convention that matches with the respective generation's main series games, instead of the stand-alone original names, hence the addition of Pokémon the Series in the names. Though, that is just my assumption on the subject. And it is not just the case with iTunes, but Beyond has also been releasing the DVD sets under the new names. So far, we have only seen AG and DP getting "new" names. Anyway, the source is good enough for this season's title. The name change for the previous seasons will most likely be acknowledged in their respective trivia sections (yet to be finalized). AdynizWanna talk? 20:19, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
The subtitle of "Pokémon the Series" is the dub name of the series; previously, these were only named in the Japanese name, but the English distributors have gone back and started retroactively naming them. So far, only Pokémon the Series: Ruby & Sapphire (known as the Advanced Generation series in Japanese) and Pokémon the Series: Black & White (known as the Best Wishes! series in Japanese) have received this treatment; I'm not sure why Adyniz believes DP also got named, but I haven't seen it. So far, Beyond has only released a single non-XY DVD set with "Pokémon the Series", that being the RS one. BW was only named recently (to my knowledge), and is used on Netflix (I don't have a Netflix account, so I can't check how they've set it up).
What you're seeing on iTunes in that screenshot for RS episodes is the series name then the season name, separated by a "dash" (it's actually a hyphen, but being used as a dash). --SnorlaxMonster 15:58, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
By DP, I was referring to this. Its description says: "INCLUDES ALL 189 EPISODES FROM POKEMON THE SERIES: DIAMOND AND PEARL". Also, I forgot about BW's renaming. AdynizWanna talk? 16:06, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I was unaware of that one. Now we just need the original series to get a dub name (although I wouldn't be surprised if that never happens) and an image of the DP series logo. --SnorlaxMonster 16:56, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

S18? Really?

Why is this page still called S18 and not Pokemon the Series: XY Kalos Quest? --TheMaskedMeowth (talk) 20:14, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

You may wish to take a look at Category:Anime seasons. Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:15, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
To clarify, all season pages were moved from their full season names to S## to match the EP###/M## format for episode/movie names. Bwburke94 (talk) 00:08, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

iTunes are not the official distributors!

iTunes are not the official distributors and hence, we should remove the title Kalos Quest and should wait till the DVD release of the season! --Yash Sen 1:56 PM, September 26, 2015 (IST) 08:26, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

iTunes are merely a retailer. Viz Media is the official distributor of Pokemon in North America. Until they make a release containing Part 2 episodes after this one only then will we be able to settle on a name. Therefore, as I already stated above, we should remove the title Kalos Quest and should wait till the DVD release of the season! --Yash Sen 2:00 PM, September 26, 2015 (IST) 08:30, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Someone, whether it's TPCi or DuArt or CN or Viz is irrelevant, had to give the episode footage to iTunes and give it a name. iTunes is merely a "store" at which one of those companies is distributing their goods. In any case, the official Pokémon site has since used the name. --Abcboy (talk) 14:35, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Additionally, this is the title Beyond Home Entertainment are using on their DVD release, Beyond also being an official distributor. --SnorlaxMonster 08:46, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
Okay. --Yash Sen 09:58, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
