How is that of any consequence? The move has a new name and that's what we should call it throughout the wiki. The only exceptions would be when "Hi Jump Kick" is specifically spelled that way, such as in Gen I-V games. This is not one of those cases, as Hitmonlee only performed the move, which is now called "High Jump Kick." --IWannaBeTheVeryBest 01:43, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Trivia

I don't know what is said in the Japanese version, but in the English version Red says he was named by his father, who hoped the name would give red the passion and energy of a red hot fire. Is this a notable trivia? Yamitora1 (talk) 03:38, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

That's a good question (seeing how little information we are given about Red's father, or really the father of any playable character outside of Hoenn), I would think so, but I'm not good with understanding Japanese myself. ----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 05:11, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Me neither. Really unless someone says brother, sister, heart, feeling, hello, yes, pervert, cute and a few other words and phrases, I don't know a thing. The only language I can ever get a feel for is German because its the ancestor to English If i remember right. I would watch the eps with subtitles, but those are not always reliable, especially if they're just the dub or fanmade script with no real translation from the original dialog. Yeah, I base it off of the context of the situation (which fan-subs can sometimes confuse, as lines in the English version really cleared up most of the confusion based on the situation and original dialogue in the games a bit) and the few words I do know, which is a mixed bag of different things, I'm better at Spanish since I've taken some courses, but I digress. I'd assume the context is basically the same in Japanese, but I don't think I should be assuming. So would this be a notable? I know fathers are rarely ever mentioned in the series aside from hints that Giovoni was Ash's dad in some live action thing, gen III and VI (the PC in the player room was given to them by their dad, I am not far in the game so no spoilers) so the fact that Red acknowledges a father is kinda unheard of for Pokémon. One Pokémon manga from back in 1998 actually has Red's father (named Kasaki, an anagram of Sakaki) as a main character. 1 2 Bluesun (talk) 05:08, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

I think I got some wires crossed here. Ok, lets steer away from the father thing outside of the fact that he's named by his father shall we? Mewtwo's Psychic vs Confusion

Now, I'm basing this off of what Blue said in the English when discribing the attacks Mewtwo used on him, but he said "It used Confusion and Barrier", so wait, should we replace Psychic with Confusion under the moves Red's Mewtwo knows or just add Confusion to the list. Because really, they never stated all the moves that were used by name, and really it is the same with a lot of the Pokémon in this special whose moves were shown but not named. Just trying to keep away from making assumptions even if they are based off of the info given from the games themselves. Caterpie and Metapod?

Shouldn't we split Caterpie and Metapod? We never saw the evolution, and Red says he owns 150 Pokemon, which means he either owns some unevolved Pokemon, duplicates, or non-Generation I Pokemon - which leaves room for him to have caught both a Caterpie and a Metapod. Moves

As I've been updating some images, I've noticed some oddities among the moves used by Red's Pokémon, mainly Persian's Fury Swipes and Scyther's Slash. None of those moves were called out explicitly, so why are they listed as moves used by those Pokémon? Persian could have used any of its many cutting attacks, and Scyther doesn't actually seem to use any move whatsoever. Also, Take Down's page listed Red's Tauros as an user, but, again, nothing seems to support this, so I've edited it out. Have these moves been named in closed captions anywhere? A slight correction: I've rewatched the last episode and Scyther does, in fact, seem to use Slash against Blue's Alakazam. I was focusing too much on the Bruno battle. Nonetheless, I think my point still stands. Shinka (talk) 19:03, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
