Where did all the moves from before lv. 70 come from? And for Groudon and Kyogre, where did the ones before level 45 come from? Are they just speculation?--ObsessedMinunFan 02:06, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

It's what the move tutor says it learns at those levels, I believe. --Pie 02:53, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
I just got Rayguaza, Groudon, and Kyogre on Emerald yesterday, and I'm looking at the Move Tutor thing right now. It doesn't list the levels anywhere. Is the person who posted them still active here?--ObsessedMinunFan 06:44, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
I believe people got that info by using a GameShark to get a very low level wild Rayquaza. That is the best way to get to know from what level the Pokémon learns the moves. TheBlazikenMaster 12:28, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

how are the status calculated

hi, i would like to ask, how are the status graphic calculated, i mean i was trying to capt a pattern, but I just could not, i mean max speed for groudon and Kyogre at lv.100 is 306 and it is represented as a 90 in the graphic. same for rayquaza, max attack an sp.attack is 438 at lv.100 and the graphic shows 150 for both stats. so, how can i calculate the equivalent for the other pokemon? Please help me with this... :S

Rock Smash

It doesn't learn Rock Smash in Generation 4? --Raijinili 02:26, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

It does. Someone must've left it out. TTEchidna 01:06, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Speculation

Well i was looking at the other 2 super-ancients and i thought, the markings on those 2 are, and this is proven in the anime, made by the orbs. and Rayquaza has similar markings, so does he have an, yet to be revealed, orb? LordKaien 15:03, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't think his orb will be revealed any time soon. Because in the anime Ash travels to another region every 5 or so seasons. TheBlazikenMaster 15:20, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
We've gone past the third generation now so I would be surprised to see any further development on the weather trio. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 15:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Kyogre was in the Manaphy movie, so that makes me think that they won't be completely ignored.LordKaien 15:26, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
That was still Generation III. Of course they won't be ignored (see the Mismagius filler) but new information is being relegated to the Gen IV legends right now. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 15:30, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Sure there is often new information revealed on older Pokémon (for example, the episodes where Misty returned new information about Togepi/Togetic became revealed) but new information regarding Legends is pretty rare, especially something big like orb. TheBlazikenMaster 16:57, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, it would make a great part of a movie. LordKaien 14:48, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

It makes me wonder if there will be a movie to feature all the Legendaries battling it out to see who is the supreme Legendary. I would definately see that. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 01:50, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't think that would be possible, when the amount of Pokémon are growing so are legendaries. TheBlazikenMaster 10:02, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
True, the battle may just end up destroying everything anyway. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 14:24, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
It would be awesome though. LordKaien 21:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

To get back to the topic about the markings: Maybe Rayquaza's markings are also created by the orbs? Rayquaza is part of the Weather Trio, so couldn't the orbs affect Rayquaza as well? Diachronos 16:56, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

I don't think so; Groudon raised lands and Kyogre raised seas, what did rayquaza do? DragonTamer 07:50, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Although it wasn't stated in the show or games, Rayquaza could have done something with the ozone/atmosphere like raising oxygen levels to support more life.--いぬみみ 21:50, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Sprite Changes?

Okay this might be nothing, but in the 3rd gen sprites inside it's mouth Rayquaza got Blue Color, while in the DP sprites inside it's like black or dark pink?

I think its worth noting.ShinyPiKa 22:15, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
So do I, add it to the trivia section if you'd like. TheBlazikenMaster 22:27, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Origin, Name Origin

I don't see the resemblance of the Ziz in Rayquaza. I also don't see the resemblances of the Behemoth and the Leviathan in Groudon and Kyogre, respectively. Do we know where this information came from?? Can it be cited from anywhere?? I'm just wondering where that information came from, because it does not seem very believable to me. And also, I don't understand how Rayquaza's name can be derived from "ray"... Soon to be Mrs. Shirley 14:13, 18 October 2008

It's not physical resemblance to Behemoth/Leviathan/Ziz, it's their thematic similarities. Both groups are huge, primordial monsters of land, sea, and sky.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 14:21, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Wait, how do you know what Ziz looks like? --Raijinili 06:01, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Guardian of the Skies

I think its appropriate to put "Guardian of the Skies" in there DragonTamer 12:13, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Who told you that? hfc2X 16:53, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Hfc2x...but now that i think about it, didn't Rayquaza try to keep deoxys from entering the atmosphere in the 7th movie? And in mystery dungeon red and blue, Rayquaza also stopped the meteor that was heading straight for the planet. --いぬみみ 19:01, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Then it's better to explain why it is the "Guardian of Skies". If it's supported by official sources, then I will not opose. hfc2X 02:55, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Can't you do that? I don't know how to say it. DragonTamer 05:14, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Flying Type

I've noticed other pokemon's trivia sections, such as Heatran, include the fact that they have the highest of an individual stat for a specific type. Rayquaza has the highest attack and special attack of all flying types, but I was wondering whether this was worth noting, due to the fact that flying is and has always been a secondary type.

The Japanese Name

Rekkūza? That doesn't sound similar enough to "Rayquaza." At least, that's what I believe. If it was "Rekkueza," then it would be similar, but... SharKing Productions 04:15, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Ask GameFreak. It's their choice, really.—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 06:23, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
If it would be "Rekkueza," then its Japanese name would be レックェザ, right? Hmm... Palkia38 12:02, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm glad someone else but me caught this. Yeah, I was about to ask about this myself. What do the official Japanese names say?

The trivia now say "座 za, from universe". As far as I know 座 has nothing to do with the universe, except that you can find it at the end of constellation names. I even checked some dictionaries to be sure. 座, especially when pronounced "za", means "the place where one sits" i.e. "seat" or "location". So 烈空座 (Rekkūza) could mean something like "one that sits in the ferocious heavens". I'll go ahead and change the article. Feel free to revert, but then please discuss why. --Spenvdm 14:55, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Ken Sugimori released new artwork for Rayquaza when Emerald was released (like he did for the Hoenn starters), I'm sure it used to be used in the article. The current picture is fine though. Taromon 18:57, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Jade Orb?

Should it be added in the trivia that Rayquaza needs the Jade Orb in order to appear in HG/SS, like Groudon and Kyogre need their orbs, but in Emerald all you need to do is go to the Sky Pillar? --"FiMbUlWiNtEr2O|2" 22:32, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Trivia issue

  • It is said that Rayquaza will come if Groudon and Kyogre are battling, but it didn't appear in the episodes Gaining Groudon and The Scuffle of Legends.
    • However, in Pokémon Emerald the player must get Rayquaza to stop the battle of Groudon and Kyogre in Sootopolis manually. This may mean that Rayquaza can only calm the two down but may not know when and where they are fighting.

If I recall correctly, Rayquaza was sleeping when the player is given the task to go get it. I also see it far more likely that Rayquaza knew that Groudon and Kyogre were fighting, but couldn't get there before the fighting was ended. I base my argument off the fact whenever the two meet a huge storm is formed. The energy that the storm must be letting off must be massive enough to let Rayquaza know that the two are fighting. Also the second bit, sounds like spectulation. I would to like to do a duscion before I go and remove anything. Truthseeker4449 22:57, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Rayquaza and Landorus section dissapear?

Wasn't there originally a post on the trivia section about Rayquaza sharing similar traits with Landorus? Them serving as Trio Masters of their own trio? - unsigned comment from MrAkmalDanish (talkcontribs)

Excuse me, but you are mistaken, Mr-ex777. I have not edited this page since January 9, 2011, when the trivia was still posted. This is the edit when the trivia was removed. As you can see, it was neither I, nor KG that removed it. Such accusation was uncalled for, and I'd appreciate it if you would actually do your research next time before making false claims. Does the Rayquaza in Where No Togepi Has Gone Before! really count as major appearance?

I personally think it counts as a minor appearance because it only appeared for a few seconds in that episode. If no one opposes this for 24 hours, I am gonna go ahead and change it.

If anything, the Rayquaza in Malice In Wonderland! counts as major appearance since that Rayquaza appeared for more of the episode. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 22:12, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Well, 24 hours are up, and nobody opposed, I'm making the change now. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 22:34, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
You need to give people longer than 24 hours to respond. Many people aren't on here all the time, so they aren't able to respond right away. Just give it time. If it takes too long, ask someone to give their opinion. While it only appeared for a few seconds, debuts always count as major appearances, because a debut, no matter how small, is always a major event (as seen on episode articles). The Rayquaza in DP043 was only an illusion, which doesn't count as a real debut (and probably shouldn't even count as an appearance), whereas the Rayquaza in DP142 was real. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:58, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
You're right about that. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 15:25, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Trivia issue

The trivia says that Rayquaza is the only member of the weather trio without a second type but this is no longer true because of Prmal Groudon. Does Groudon not count because it is Primal? User:Ethanbrs (talk)

Shichishito

The marks by Mega Rayquaza's eyes resemble the shape of a wp:Seven-Branched Sword. It even has exactly seven points on it. I think that's proably worth noting, as that seems intentional. Zakitano (talk) 15:57, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

It should also be noted that the appendage on its head resembles a hoplite's helmet. Արիանո 17:43, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

A couple of things need changing

In the trivia, part of one of the points says "or does not have a signature move." it does now. Also, the "Rayquaza's encounter in The Subspace Emissary" external link leads to a dead page. It should be removed or changed. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:53, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Mega Rayquaza

Since Rayquaza has been stated NOT to Mega Evolve in the same way as other Pokémon, is it really safe to say that it will make use of an unknown Mega Stone? As far as I know, we haven't received confirmation that it will use a Mega Stone, and since they went out of their way to say that it WON'T be the same way as other Pokémon, I feel we should say "via an unknown method" rather than "using an unknown Mega Stone." No, I am not saying it definitely WON'T use a Mega Stone, but that we don't know for sure that it WILL, so just to be safe, shouldn't we change that? EpicDeino (talk) 10:11, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

According to logic, if Groudon and Kyogre were given primal reversion forms instead of mega evolutions, Rayquaza should have got the same. But now since it has a mega form, EpicDeino is correct. We should change it to "via Unknown Method", just to be safe. → PikaTepig999 10:24, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
I originally removed the "an unknown mega stone" and put "unknown means" because that's what its official page claimed ("a unique method"). However, the promo video on the official channel says, "Mega Stone obtained in ORAS" and I assume that's accurate and not a generic Mega Evo footer, so I added it in. So unless it's proven to be wrong, we assume it's a stone. Kai * the Arc Toraph 12:55, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
The legend of Primal Groudon and Kyogre explictely mentions that Rayquaza used a special stone that reacted to the prayers of Hoenn to become Mega Rayquaza. This is clearly a Mega Stone. However, during the stream where Rayquaza was shown Mega Evolving against another Trainer, it said "Omega's prayer reached Rayquaza!" instead of the usual Mega Stone reacting stuff. We'll probably get more info later. Ataro (talk) 18:00, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

ORAS Artwork

Should we use Rayquaza's ORAS artwork on its page now, like we're doing with the Hoenn Starters? Nintendocan (talk) 23:29, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

I agree with you, there is no point having old artwork representing the page as the main artwork of a page when there is new artwork. Ellis99 (talk) 11:38, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Two Questions on Mega Rayquaza...

If Rayquaza only needs Dragon Ascent to Mega Evolve, wouldn't that make the Meteorite's role secondary in Mega Evolving Rayquaza? And is it worthy to note that since Mega Rayquaza doesn't need a Mega Stone as a held item, it can hold an item, or has that already been noted?IM-T-MAN2 (talk) 21:53, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

"Strong Winds"

Why would Rayquaza's type immunities due to Delta Stream not count? Mega Groudon and Mega Kyogre say they're immune to Water and Fire, and Pokemon with the potential to have abilities to change type match-ups (Heatproof, Levitate, etc) note them. Drake Clawfang (talk) 19:25, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Delta Stream does not cause a type immunity the same way Desolate Land or Primordial Sea do. Litwick96 (talk) 15:38, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
So? All natural abilities that affect type advantages (not just immunities) are noted, like Thick Fat. Delta Stream may not affect type advantages quite as directly, but Desolate Land and Primordial Sea already set a precedent. A rule like "both advantages/disadvantages and immunities are noted for direct abilities, but for 'indirect' abilities, only immunities ought to be noted" would be rather dumb. Blueapple128 (talk) 05:38, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Using Dragon Ascent to Mega Evolve

Rayquaza cannot Mega Evolve even with Dragon Ascent until after the Delta Episode. This should be noted in the top section. Crunchdog29 (talk) 01:56, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

It does. glikglak 02:37, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

Key Stone

I know the Rayquaza from Delta Episode first needs to eat the meteorite in your bag for it to Mega Evolve, but does any other Rayquaza have any condition to Mega Evolve outside of Dragon Ascent? As in, do they specifically need the Key Stone from after the 5th Gym before it can Mega Evolve? Apparently a friend of mine says the recently distributed Event Shiny Rayquaza was capable of Mega Evolving and he didn't even have the Key Stone required for Mega Evolution in general. New Artwork

Rayquaza got new artwork for ORAS. Can we change the main artwork, please? We did it for the Hoenn starters I don't see why we can't for Rayquaza too.   - unsigned comment from Theexploringgamer (talkcontribs)

Yeah, that should really be updated. Anyone who knows how oughta get right on that.Me, Hurray! (talk) 18:55, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
We go by the officially used stock art. In the online Pokedex, Rayquaza's entry does not use the ORAS artwork, it uses the artwork we're currently showing. (While all of our main Pokemon artwork may not conform to that guideline currently, it should.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:25, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
Treecko, Torchick, and Mudkip all use their ORAS artwork, which is why I'm mentioning this Theexploringgamer (talk) 19:40, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
Since it's my last chance to say it, I vouch for us using the new Rayquaza artwork. The Pokémon company sporadically switches between even official artwork, so we should use the newest artwork, if it's of high enough quality (which in Rayquaza's case, it is). --Celadonkey 02:03, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
I also vouch for using the new artwork. The previous argument of the official site using RS Rayquaza isn't very valid anymore; they've reverted to using RS images for Torchic, Treecko, and Mudkip, not even the Emerald artwork. ArtistKyurem (talk) 16:15, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Shouldn't the trivia say "both also requires capture to continue storyline."

I would've undone the edit, but I'm not allowed to edit trivia. Unowninator (talk) 16:45, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Thanks MetalMetroid997, but shouldn't it say "both are also Pokémon that must be captured before the story can proceed." ? Unowninator (talk) 17:45, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Shuffle Sprite

At the moment the sprite for Shiny Mega Rayquaza is called Shuffle384MS. However, as the sprite for Shiny Rayquaza is called 'Shuffle384S', the format automatically wants to use 'Shuffle384SM'. This file does not exist, which causes the sprite to not be displayed correctly. Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Catch Rate?

In ORAS, all previous legendaries had their catch rate set to 3 (Groudon, Kyogre, Palkia, Dialga, Reshiram, Zekrom, Yveltal, Xerneas), while Rayquaza's was raised to 45 due to it being a required catch. Since it is no longer a required catch, has its catch rate been changed back to 3? Has anyone rechecked the catch rate? I quickly Googled it and didn't see any discussion on it. ArtistKyurem (talk) 04:00, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

It has, the catch rate 45 was for special occasion and story mode reasons only. Hence why its back to 3.--Jacob Kogan (talk) 04:36, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Are you merely speculating or do you know that for a fact, Jacob? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 06:13, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
I assume it was for that was catch for all the Legendary Pokémon at first, but looking around the internet and other sources, I think I may be incorrect on that, and the that the catch rate may still be 45, considering I was able to catch Rsyquaza with just a Quick Ball in Ultra Sun. What do you think PumpkinKing?--Jacob Kogan (talk) 06:17, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
I think we should wait for someone who actually knows the answer. Please don't assume, and especially don't misrepresent your assumptions in a way that people might mistake them for the truth. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 06:29, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Intro

"In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Rayquaza featured in the Delta Episode must be caught (which requires it to eat the Meteorite) before the player can Mega Evolve any Rayquaza."

Is the bit about Rayquaza having to eat the Meteorite before Mega Evolving really relevant for the intro of the article? The player cannot catch the Rayquaza until after that cutscene has passed. --celadonk (talk) 21:44, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
