Omnivore

isn't an omnivore something that eats both meat and grasses? so wouldn't the term herbivore be correct? - unsigned comment from Amben27 (talkcontribs)

Wild Charge

Just so you know, I bred my Zebstrika♂ (which could use Wild Charge) with my Ponyta♀ and the result was a Ponyta that could use Wild Charge also. Since I can't seem to figure out how to add it to the list, could someone possibly add Wild Charge to the list of moves Ponyta can learn by breeding? - unsigned comment from Master741 (talkcontribs)

Wild Charge is also a TM move, which can be passed down from father to child. Littlmiget123 18:45, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Galarian Ponyta

It looks like we're getting a Galarian Ponyta. [1] and [2]--BigDocFan (talk) 08:50, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

Technically, no one said it's Ponyta. Let's just wait for site update.--Rocket Grunt (Report To Me) 13:13, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
Agreed, nothing official has noted it's a Ponyta yet, could be an entirely different Pokémon altogether. Frozen Fennec 14:13, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

(resetting indent)You can't be serious. How can you possibly think it isn't Ponyta? ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 18:26, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

I think the best thing to do here is not to argue with the admin.--BigDocFan (talk) 18:27, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
Now, now, I know better than to start a flame war; I just want answers. Nothing more. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 18:28, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
We know it's Ponyta because we have a clear proof - its cry, but know it is too little information to even start editing this page. It's an encyclopedia, not news service.--Rocket Grunt (Report To Me) 18:32, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
Sorry, but I don't follow. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 18:33, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
Oh for crying out loud its so obvious. you’d have to be retarded to deny it, so please just add it already
Hello?
Will someone please do it already? - unsigned comment from GalarPony (talkcontribs)

(resetting indent)While I personally agree it most likely will be a Galarian Ponyta, there is a possibility they might throw us in a loop and say it's something totally different and unrelated. We have to wait for official confirmation. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 02:03, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

We need actual information to add first. Nothing about types, height, weight, abilities or anything like that has been mentioned. All we know is that it exists. PDL (talk) 02:26, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
GalarPony, please watch it. Calling other people "retarded" goes against the Code of Conduct and will not be tolerated. As other have said, we don't know if it actually is a Galarian Ponyta until we get official confirmation. Otherwise it is just speculation. I will lower the protection once we get official confirmation on what it is.--ForceFire 04:48, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

Of course we know it’s Galar Ponyta. It looks and sounds like one. What else could it possibly be?! - unsigned comment from GalarPony (talkcontribs)

Nothing has been confirmed yet, we are waiting until it is confirmed for sure it is Ponyta first, could still be getting thrown through a loop with it possibly being something else altogether. Frozen Fennec 16:21, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
You want to bey? Whoever iswtong has to leave the site forever. What do you say? - unsigned comment from GalarPony (talkcontribs)
1. Please take the time to read the Code of Conduct linked above.
2. Telling users they should leave if they are possibly incorrect with guesses is very rude and also not acceptable behavior.
3. Sign your comments with four ~ ~ ~ ~ at the end of talk page comments, this way so others do not have to keep signing your talk page comments for you.
Thank you. Frozen Fennec 16:28, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
What were you even trying to say? GrammarFreak01 (talk) 19:55, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
GalarPony, please calm down, you aren't even in position to give bets like that. If you really want to see confirmation go to any other site. We all want Bulbapedia to be a reliable source, and for that we have to obey the rule, if anything isn't stated, it cannot be put here, you know it's Ponyta good for you, but can you pin down a source that would claim that? When Sirfetch'd was revealed, we could hear Rotom's cry, but Pokemon was different. Also, there is no information to add, we only know that this Pokemon exist, there is no height, weight, type, description or anything solid.--Rocket Grunt (Report To Me) 21:08, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

(resetting indent)You do know the guy is blocked now, right? ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 21:26, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

@GrammarFreak01, I think they were trying to make a bet.Animaltamer7 (talk) 02:11, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
Okay. And I didn't know the user was blocked. My bad. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 03:49, 7 October 2019 (UTC)

Are we still ignoring it now? -Kingbowser99 (talk) 11:54, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

I don't believe anyone is ignoring it, its just that there's very little information to work with to edit Ponyta's page right now. Until there's more official details about it, we'll just have to wait.--Dken2021 (talk) 12:32, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Multiple categories

Isn't Hoopa another Pokémon with multiple categories? It's known as the Mischief Pokémon in confined form and the Djinn Pokémon in unbound form. PDL (talk) 00:36, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Possible Name Origin?

Ponyta's name obviously is partially derived from "pony", but maybe it also takes a little from "piñata", an often-horse-shaped decoration? I'm on the fence about it, but if "bonita" is discussed as a possibility then I feel "piñata" isn't too much of a stretch. Pseudonym (talk) 15:39, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

I personally think bonita is way off and should be removed from the article. I mean there's nothing in Ponyta's lore which especially links it to the notion of "pretty", and I don't think the two words are even really pronounced the same way. (I'm not sure about the Japanese pronunciation, but English "Ponyta" has the accent on the 'po' while Spanish "bonita" has it on the 'ni', at least as far as I'm aware, though I do not speak Spanish.) I personally was always under the impression that "Ponyta" was a clipping of "ponytail" but I don't think there's much basis for this either (and, in light of the katakana spelling, it's probably wrong). As for "piñata", it's an interesting theory but I doubt it. Dannyjenn (talk) 14:24, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
