So, umm, I herd some things...

Seriously, this is good on the species, but... where's the mention of the meme? Birdboy2000 13:27, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Meme? --FabuVinny 15:20, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
You don't know? "so i herd u liek mudkipz" ring any bells? --TTEchidna 22:09, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
No. Should it? --FabuVinny 14:01, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Possibly. It started over at deviantART when some person invited another to the MudKipClub there. --TTEchidna 07:28, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Are you serious? The meme started at 4chan. That's where 99% of memes start.
It probably was first started (Not as a meme, though) on dA and then someone took it to 4chan, which means both of you are right. - Jonah 02:06, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

I dont know where it started but its been around for a while...and its pretty popular..like look what i found (didnt make) to put on a user page?

258Mudkip.png This user lieks Mudkipz.

anyways..i think it should be under trivia something such as the following: "Mudkips have been in a popular online saying/joke stating "So i herd you leik mudkips" it is unkown why the spelling was never corrected but it is more popular in such form" well...thats just my two cents...anybody else got something to say? bill33421

Hehe, I put that on my page. Anyways, yeah, maybe a little something under Trivia. - Jonah 02:31, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree, to Trivia with the meme. Also, I made that userbox. The question, though, is if we add the meme thing to Mudkip, what of Slowpoke or Seaking? TTEchidna 08:32, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes...i also put that on my page...and thanksalot for making it...there is a phrase mentioning it in trivia now...i think thats pretty sufficent...so what are the memes about seaking and slowpoke? i haven't heard those ones. bill33421

The memes are "Fuck Yeah Seaking" and...I'm not sure what Slowpoke's is called. But Slowpoke is posted onto pages at 4chan that are out-of-date, I think? (Like, if someone asked, "When is the human race going to go into outer space?" they would recieve a Slowpoke in response.) Yeah, put a small trivia thingy for Slowpoke and Seaking, I guess. Jonah 18:00, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

I definitely know about Seaking, I saw one on the GTS named **** YEAH. TTEchidna 02:25, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

The only reason Mudkip won that favorite Pokémon thing is because of the stupid ""i herd u liek mudkipz" thing. It was probably the most ingnored starter Pokémon up until that dumb phrase. --ケンジガール 22:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Okay so i looked up the slowpoke thing. its like when somebody says they've newly discovered something from distant past, and then they get a slowpoke in response because they are slow to find it...heres an example:

Person A:"Hey, i found a great new show called "I Love Lucy" Its really funny"

Person B:"Yeah...its pretty good...079.png"

The meme stems from 4chan. I could upload a screencap of the thread to photobucket or whatever to show you guys the original story, but it's probably rated R and NSFW.

The Wall Street Journal's sources obviously points towards 4chan as the creators of the meme; http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121564928060441097.html

I realize said (incredibly stupid) Mudkip meme is quite popular, but does it seriously need to be mentioned in four separate Trivia items? That just seems like overkill.... JessTehSkox 23:12, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
It really is, so I killed some of them. — THE TROM — 04:19, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, this meme originated 100% from 4chans /b/. It had NOTHING to do with DA, they just used it after the fact. Again, nothing to do with DA I'm removing that part.--Amantis 05:27, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Origin?

So... mudskipper or mudpuppy? I've looked at pictures of both and they look completely different from each other, with the mudpuppy looking (by far) more like Mudkip. Then again, mudskipper is the namesake of Mudkip (either that, or "mud" and "skip").

Also, I herd you liek mudkipz.--Wantlimepie 21:57, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Prototype sprite

Should it be stated, that on the prototype sprite for D/P,there is a rather large reddish spot on the Mudkips tail? That could be a gender difference,or a new design? Lovely Rose 22:46, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Edit Request

Ash's Pokedex, Mudkip, AG005 'Mudkip, the Mud Fish Pokémon. Mudkip uses the sensitive fin on its head to take radar readings off its surroundings.' Please and thank you. Littlmiget123 14:22, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Another one, please.

In travia

Mudkip is only of its evolution line that can learn mud sport.Despite its evolution was ground/water and it was pure water.Meearaimeng 03:22, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

No. Marshtomp also learns it one level later. Mudkip learns it at level 24, Marshtomp learns it at level 25. Frozen Fennec 03:26, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

No it not I already check in GenV move of Marshtomp it was no mud sport.I guess you mean mud shot.I mean mud sport.Meearaimeng 08:57, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Gust?

The egg moves section lists Gust as one of Mudkip's egg moves. The Gust page itself does not. Which is right? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 20:56, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Once again, does anybody know whether Mudkip can learn Gust or not? Cause if it can't, Gust should probably be removed from Mudkip's list of egg moves. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 12:42, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
My guess is no. I'll try to find the answer. ♣♣ Ƒǿҫὑṩ ❺❽ ♣♣ 12:48, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Habitat

"Mudkip and members of its evolution family dwell in swamps or other wetlands, deep inside isolated islands, because of their dislike of fresh water lakes and ponds"

Where is the proof from the "because of their dislike of fresh water lakes and ponds"? can someone tell me? Prinben 20:33, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Here's its addition. I see no proof. I've looked up the sentence on Google and got nothing except for Bulbapedia/other sites quoting Bulbapedia. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 22:54, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

New Trivia

Since we're labeling pokemon starters on being the first of an animal group, shouldn't Mudkip be stated to be the first based on an amphibian? Jetison (talk) 19:51, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

No, because Bulbasaur may have been based on amphibians.--Den Zen 20:03, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

I meant first water starter Jetison (talk) 21:03, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Source for the poll entry in trivia section

"In a poll conducted by Nintendo of Europe, Mudkip was voted as the fan favorite starter, with Typhlosion and Blastoise close behind."

Shouldn't be a source/citations for that? - unsigned comment from ZeraX (talkcontribs)
