Move

What idiot moved this page?! --Theryguy512 19:57, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

They weren't an idiot. I can see why they merged the two movie Mews. (Do we really need a bunch articles on Mew?) TinaTheKirlia 19:59, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
The point is, he should have asked before doing this. This isn't the first time that particular user has moved something this major. --PAK Man Talk 22:02, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I think that we should undo the move. --Theryguy512 00:36, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Gender

I don't think Mew's gender should be "none" since it's unknown if genderless Pokemon apply in the anime, and therefore, not 100% confirmed. In fact i think it's very unlikely that it's genderless since there was a female (mother) Lugia in the series, so it should be "Unknown" (GT4GTR 11:17, 16 June 2008 (UTC))

Aura Sphere

How did Mew used Aura Sphere here but it's introduced in Generation IV? Palkia38 10:23, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

It didn't necessarily; just that the blue orb it shot out against the black orb Mewtwo uses looks like Aura Sphere. Remember that that black orb of darkness Mewtwo uses is Shadow Ball, which wasn't introduced until Generation II. However, the distance between this movie and DPPt is so far that it's likely just speculation. It is a move of Mew's in GenIV, but this doesn't necessitate that it was used in Mv1. Who's to say it wasn't a variant on Psychic used in the movie? I like the idea, but in the spirit of Bulbapedia, this doesn't deserve a place on the page. Satosuke 15:20, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Johto Region

Why is Mew's current location the Johto Region, it didn't appear in Mewtwo Returns as anything more than a brief vision Mewtwo had in the lake, I'd say it's current location should be unknown since it was never stated where the fossil used to clone Mewtwo came from (assuming it's the same Mew)

Mewtwo returns was the last time we saw this Mew.It was in JohtoYour Friendly Neighborhood Cookie Monster
This is true. Mew was in the special. Where it is now, who knows? But it was in Johto, so that's how it is. Satosuke 15:22, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm bringing this discussion back. Yes the special may have taken place in Johto, but we don't know if Mew actually appeared or if it was a vision by Mewtwo. It seems more likely a vision, but that doesn't count it as being in Johto. --HoennMaster 04:47, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

The lake that Mew was sleeping in in the first movie was Mount Quena, wasn't it?
Mt. Quena wasn't even thought of at the time of the first ovie so obviously not. --HoennMaster 09:27, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Personaly i think, if Mewtwo was not just having a vision and really saw Mew, then it really does live in Mount Quana, but it was never stated in the anime if that was actually Mew or if the mountain in the special is the same as the one in the first movie. So yes, it should say Mew's current location is unknown because there is no real proof that Mew is at Mount Quana.--いぬみみ 22:32, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Merge

why don't we combine this with Mew (movie 8)? There is only one mew in existence. WaterUser (page, talk) 23:42, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

In the games maybe, but in the anime, no. CuboneKing 23:45, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm all for the merge. There's no proof that they're seperate Mews. So it's in a different place, so what? Mew can fly. Reign 02:36, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Ha, funny. There's no proof they're the same either. Perfect instances: Entei's Pokédex entry and Lugia. ht14 05:46, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Gender

It says Mewtwo is male, and since Mewtwo is the clone of Mew, wouldn't that make Mew male? I'm not quite sure how cloning works, so correct me if I'm wrong.--Burgundy 23:49, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

well assuming that the 2 have gender (which they don't) would your theory have any basis at all there's nothing to say that they didn't alter a gene from x to y or y to x who knows? it doesn't matter though because this whole idea in nonsense neither Mew nor Mewtwo (any of them, EVER) have had genders or will have genders. full-stop. —Mada-sama (Talk to me!)— 13:30, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Japanese version

"Mew followed Team Rocket into the main part of the island so it could challenge Mewtwo, convinced that a naturally born being would always be more powerful than its clone."

"In the Japanese version, Mew claimed that it intended to destroy cloned Pokémon because it viewed them as inferior, in stark contrast with Mewtwo's desire to eliminate all natural life"

How is this intent conveyed? Does Mew actually speak in the Japanese version or is it Mewoth's translation? And I think the first quote should also be restricted to just the Japanese version, the English version depicts Mew as peaceful and playful with no intention to commit genocide as far as I can remember. Don Lark Kiin 11:09, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

I would assume it would just be Meowth's translation. What exactly did Meowth say in the Japanese version?
I'm curious about this as well. I've never seen the Japanese version, but I re-watched the dub keeping that fact in mind and it didn't seem to make much sense. In all the parts before Mew started fighting it looked nothing like she was planning to kill all clones. Or, if that was her intent, she wasn't really to the point about it (wasting all sorts of time on pointless stuff like playing on the windmill thing, following Team Rocket around, floating around Ash, fleeing from Mewtwo before finally deciding to fight, etc.).
