His relation to Lance and Clair
Lance and Clair are stated to be cousins on multiple occasions. However, on this page, Master is said to be the grandfather to both of them (in the "Relatives" section of the main summary at the top right of the page.)
In HGSS, he directly states that Clair is his granddaughter if you speak to him after he gives you the Dratini with Extreme Speed. So, this would make Lance his grandnephew/great nephew (whichever word you prefer), not his grandson. Even factoring in the possibility of some... uncomfortable family relations, if that were the case, then Clair and Lance would be brother and sister, not cousins. No matter how you look at it, there's no way for him to be Lance's AND Clair's grandpa.
... Is what I thought. However, Lance's page also contains the assertion that the Master is Lance's grandfather in both his "Relatives" section and in his "In the core series" section. So, I searched through Lance's "Quotes" page, and found the specific quote we're looking for (from Pokemon Masters):
"My grandfather is the elder of a famous clan of dragon masters."
So now I'm even more confused. I think I accidentally uncovered an incredibly uncomfortable secret in the Dragon Tamer clan, and I don't like it.
Or maybe writers creating lore many years apart from each other about a character no one cares about aren't always gonna get everything right. Could be either one, really.
