Legendary moves

I forgot the video but I am pretty sure some legendary moves like Dark Void have their description intact, but they can't be used regardless if you hack them in. Eridanus (talk) 20:06, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

In Generation VII, they species-locked Dark Void to Darkrai so Smeargle couldn't use it. Given that Darkrai is currently unusable in SwSh, that's most likely the case. TehPerson (talk) 02:06, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
Those Legendary/Mythical Pokémon's moves are not usable in Pokémon Sword and Shield. However, because they still have descriptions in those games, some lists of unusable moves incorrectly omit them. However, at least until the DLC is release, even with Pokémon HOME there's no legitimate way for any of those moves to be obtained in Pokémon Sword and Shield, because none of the Pokémon that can learn them (including Smeargle) can be sent to Sword or Shield. --SnorlaxMonster 08:28, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
I'm assuming Metronome won't select those? Nescientist (talk) 11:05, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
I believe so, although that's difficult to prove without examining the game's code (whereas I only have the datamined move properties).
Also, interestingly these moves are not marked as unusable in Pokémon HOME. However, since none of the Pokémon that learn these moves can currently be transferred to Pokémon Sword and Shield, it's not an issue. --SnorlaxMonster 11:45, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

Just to get this right: the list is the one from that diff? And those moves are "unusable" in SwSh because they're not available? If so, I would believe Metronome might call them successfully. (I might test later.) I would also think this page shouldn't list them, then. Nescientist (talk) 12:06, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
I just called Fairy Lock via Metronome (which is unavailable but not on the list for some reason), and it crashed the game (before it would animate). Nescientist (talk) 14:18, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
Yes, that list is the moves that have descriptions but are still unusable, which are the moves that I removed the check marks from on this page in the linked diff.
Fairy Lock crashing the game is a known bug. There are no Pokémon that can know it in Pokémon Sword and Shield, but it is not marked as unusable (so is callable via Metronome). As it turns out, the specific issue is the animation itself; the game does not crash if animations are disabled. --SnorlaxMonster 14:28, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
Also, apparently the crash was introduced in v1.1. There are apparently videos of the animation working fine in v1.0, but the people mentioning that they've seen them didn't provide any links. --SnorlaxMonster 14:36, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
