The talk page for Juan led me here, whereby I ask why is the name of this page his Japanese name? I thought the standards were that the articles have all English names but giving the Japanese alternatives. Does anyone object to me renaming this? - Ferret 04:03, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It seems that hardly anyone uses his English name, though. Most people tend to use the fan appelation "Jiri" more than anything else. Note also that there's some debate over what exactly his English name *is*, due to him being called "Lawrence III" in the adaptation but "Gelarden" in the movie itself. If memory serves, the article for Bishasu is kept under his Japanese name as well...and I don't see anyone renaming the Bashou and Buson article. --BJG

Argh, you didn't have to remind us of that naming atrocity too... - 振霖T 09:11, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure I've seen him called that in more official sources than just the novel adaptation, it must have been in press releases too because I have magazines from before POO was shown at the cinema saying his name is Lawrence III, I'm gonna go through the DVD and see if his name is mentioned anyway too. I know he's called this, just because they don't mention it in the film doesn't mean he doesn't have a name, remember that in Episode 1 every single one of the Pod racers had a name, but only about three were mentioned. - Ferret 17:58, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

My copy says his name is Gelarden. I could take a picture for you if you like, since it's in the closed captions. --BJG

According to the now-defunct Encyclopedia Pokémonica, his name is Giraldine. Woopert 19:11, 19 September 2005 (CDT)

ジラルダン gelarden yields no hits. Neither does ジラルダン giraldine. Searching for just ジラルダン, I'm getting stuff about Emile de Girardin. --Argy 20:37, 19 September 2005 (CDT)

Moving

Why did no one get on Taylor's case about this improper moving from the former Jirarudan article? --Pie 21:07, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Not enough patrols of recent changes. (One more day of work experience!) - 振霖T 10:10, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I hope you mean as a 'back then' sort of thing, since this evidently happened back in February. Mind if I delete this and move the other properly? --Pie 17:44, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Same cause, different underlying cause. Go ahead. (Note: the undelete link will vanish after the page is moved. You can always access it via Special:Undelete, however. Also, you might find that the most recent revision is the redirect - in that case, it's more deleting and undeleting.) - 振霖T 09:25, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Lawrence III

Where the hell did this name come from? I'm assuming this is his Japanese name, since the VHS closed captioning clearly calls him "Geladarn". Do the DVD subtitles say anything different? --Shiningpikablu252 03:12, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

The novelization calls him Lawrence III, if you'd bother to read the article first...—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 03:27, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

"Gelardan"

I haven't seen a single English merchandise calling him "Gelardan". Pokemon.com synopsis, novelization and movie comic all call him Lawrence III. I guess that "Gelardan" is some fail in Subtitles or an early thing that they forgot to change. All the merchandise says "Lawrence III". --Maxim 19:25, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
