Moveset

It doesn't learn Hyper Beam other than TM. Look at the Moveset. - unsigned comment from Dark Sage (talkcontribs)

That means nothing to the anime, where a Pokémon is capable of anything in its movelist (as TMs don't exist). Like Pikachu with Iron Tail (TM move) and Chikorita with Vine Whip (Egg move). --DarkfireTaimatsu 05:52, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Oh. Ok. - unsigned comment from Dark Sage (talkcontribs)

God of Water?

Never once do the games or anime suggest that Kyogre, Groudon, or Rayquaza are gods. Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and Arceus are considered gods, but not the weather trio. As such, this trivia is pure speculations and has not merit. Satosuke 16:26, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

It created the ocean. In ancient Egypt, they used to consider the Nile River like a god because it was that basis of their civilization. I think creating the entire ocean is enough for someone to call it a god... Although I guess you have a point, it's never actually been considered a god... So let's just try and avoid the god title... ~m190049~talk 00:38, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
It may have created the ocean, it may not have. It obviously has drastic effects upon the nature of the oceans when it's powers are unleashed. However, it was never called a god in-game nor in-anime nor in-manga, no matter how god-like it is, it can't be considered a god. Satosuke 00:44, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes... I just said that. ~m190049~talk 00:46, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
@Satosuke I would presume the weather trio are just incredibly influential on nature. Arceus is the only Pokemon anywhere near a god. Dialga and Palkia are only considered so because of the spacetime control. I think Giratina has something to do with antimatter so it and the Distortion World are just a balance to the regular matter universe. - unsigned comment from 494alex (talkcontribs)

Anime Page

Hey, we all know anime pages refer to Pokémon that appear in a Pokémon movie. Since movie 9 is the only time it appeared, I suggest an anime page should be made about it. I know it only appeared around the end of movie 9 and didn't have much to do in the movie, but how about we do make the anime page? Oh, and not to annoy people, I won't make unless and until we decide to make it.--DRAGONBEASTX 05:58, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

It had only appeared in the end of the movie like what you have said and the length of its appearance was way too short for it to become notable. ×Kevzo8 06:23, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

You're right... I was thinking of comparing the way it appeared to Regigigas in movie 11... even though I haven't seen that movie, it seems that its anime page says that it had a bigger appearance, huh? I guess an anime page shouldn't be made, then.--DRAGONBEASTX 05:58, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Trivia Section

You see where it says in Rayquaza Kyogre and Groudon's Trivia section that they are the only version mascot legendaries without signature moves, shouldn't it also be said that this is probably because they have signature ABILITIES instead? I mean I don't any other Pokémon with Drizzle, Drought or Air Lock (thouh the Psyduck family have Cloud Nine, which does the same thing as Ray's ability). All other version mascot legendaries have Pressure, except Giratina Origin Forme which has Levitate. - unsigned comment from 494alex (talkcontribs) Good point. and remeber to sign with ~~~~. Shadow Kyogre image

Moonlight Umbreon:i have a shadow kyogre image!I just don't know how to put it in that page. - unsigned comment from Moonlight umbreon (talkcontribs)

You need to upload it on the Bulbagarden Archives. —darklordtrom 01:40, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Trivia Error

Did/Does Suicune have a signature move? According to the trivia, all legendary mascots have had one except for this generation's. The Groudon page also has a similar error. Poisson14 02:15, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

No, Suicune doesn't have a signature move, (although it is associated with Aurora Beam) the article already says this-"Kyogre, along with Groudon, Suicune and Rayquaza, are the only legendary Pokémon who are the version mascot of a main game, but lack a signature move." --Beligaronia (talk) 02:44, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Hidden Tower

Do you need the Kyorge from HG or any Kyorge?--FlyingSkymin23 00:28, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

The Kyogre from HG. FireMeowth 00:42, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
OK, I guess i need both games.--FlyingSkymin23 00:53, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Origin

I noticed similarities between Kyogre and the First Nations mythological Kumugwe. Kumugwe is the Kwakwaka'wakw god of the sea. One of his most important totem animals is the Orca and masks of him are depicted as blue with red trim and white bits with fish eyes and gills. (example: IH011593.jpg ) Is this worth noting at all or am I just crazy? GLBX 05:24, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

A lot of Pokemon seem to be based on mythological figures/animals, there was a faq on Gamefaqs for some of the older games detailing each Pokemon's origin themes.Tesseract 09:28, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Inspiration

The article states that Kyogre's design draws inspiration from whales, namely the Orca. But to me, it looks like it also has some similarities to Monkfish, namely the body shape and it's mouth. What do you guys think? LordHeinz 14:36, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Image Distorting Page

On my browser it appears that Kyogre's art is too wide and is stretching the page out to the right, taking the various stat boxes out of the right margins of the template. Drake Clawfang (talk) 16:15, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Adding Kyogre as mascot of Alpha Sapphire

can someone add him as the mascot of Alpha Sapphire

same goes to Groudon - unsigned comment from PortalDark (talkcontribs)

Added to both. --Pokemaster97 19:17, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

lockdown

is it worth locking down this and groudons page so we dont have editwars or fan speculation - unsigned comment from Thegrassmaster (talkcontribs)

The pages have been protected for quite some time now. --Pokemaster97 18:39, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

Can someone describe their forms first?

Though we are all foggy on the details of Groudon's and Kyogre's Primal forms, could someone start off by describing the forms in detail in the Biology section of both articles? The Seeker (talk) 20:05, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

This really isn't that good, but it's a start for someone to make better! "When in it's Primal forme, Kyogre more than doubles in size, and becomes darker blue in color. It's red stripes are now light blue with seven extra stripes on its body; one that begins with a pattern similar to the one on each fin starting from its face leading to its tail, with two further stripes leading from the large spots above its eyes into the central stripe three quarters of the way down its body. The central stripe The trailing parts have the final four new stripes, trailing through the middle of each trailing part." ----samm :D 20:49, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
So, Shiny Kyogre reverts to black Primal Kyogre--TakeruDavis[1] 22:17, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Edit request

Under Kyogre (Pokémon)#Trophy Information, would someone like to change [[OHKO|faint instantly]] to [[one-hit knockout move|faint instantly]]? ("Information" probably also shouldn't be capitalized...) Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:53, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Primal Kyogre's Ability does not translate to "Rain" of Beginnings, it translates to Sea of Beginnings. Could someone fix it? Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:51, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

If someone could add the Smash 3DS trophy description, which is:

This Water-type Pokémon roughly resembles an orca whale, though its large fins also look a bit like hands. Be wary of its Hydro Pump attack, which is capable of sending you flying off the stage. Even worse, it will chase after you, making it harder to recover from the attack. glikglak 23:35, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Weight

Ummmmmm can someone add "Primal Kyogre is the Heaviest Water-Type Pokemon"? I know this is now the heaviest Water-Type pokemon. It used to be Wailord. --HoennLove200 (talk) 02:06, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

M09 Kyogre

Is the Kyogre in M09 official? It seemed that it played a major role. --HoennLove200 (talk) 15:55, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Type Effectiveness

Primal Kyogre is not immune to Fire-type attacks. But these wikipedia editors denied this because of Primal Kyogre's ability. You guys are wrong. - unsigned comment from Arceus88 (talkcontribs)

You are correct. However, Primal Kyogre has the abilty Primordial Sea, which DOES grant immunity. The only way that Primordial Sea would NOT be able to be in effect is if a slower Primal Groudon or Mega Rayquaza was on the field and activated an ability AFTER Kyogre, which would render Primordial Sea ineffective and out of play and thus make Primal Kyogre attackable with Fire-type attacks once again. That is the ONLY way. CycloneGU (talk) 03:49, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
Air Lock, Cloud Nine, and (probably) ability-changing moves also let fire moves hit PK... Adding a disclaimer like 'Under heavy rain' or 'With Primordial Sea' might make it more precise. Octaazacubane (talk) 20:12, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

Origin Pulse/Water Spout

I think a full-health a rain-boosted choice specs Kyogre Water Spout is the most powerful attack in the game that doesn't need setup, and if Water Spout doesn't count, Origin Pulse is. Should this be mentioned? Octaazacubane (talk) 20:36, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

"Kaiorga"

There seems to be a fairly persistent myth among fans that Kyogre's Japanese name is "Kaiorga". Bulbapedia, rightly, recognizes that Kaiorga is a transliteration of the characters, and that Kyogre is the preferred Romanization in Japanese sources; and reflects this by rendering the Japanese name as such. I've removed a stray mention of "Kaiorga" from this page, in the name origin section, but a cursory search shows that there are several other instances of Kaiorga listed as the Japanese name across the wiki. Since I'm a new user I didn't want to take this on myself, but surely these should all be corrected? — Charchetype (talk)

My issues with pronouncing it

I'm unsure if its pronounced "Kai-ogre" or "Key-ogre", but I have been pronouncing it as Key-ogre.
