Trade
I noticed down in the trivia section the article talks quite a bit about trade evolution being shown correctly in this episode. I was wondering if this was accurate?
I don't speak Japanese so I have to watch with subtitles, but is there anyone who does understand Japanese fluently who can confirm if the dialogue said anything about trading? That is, actual trading, where Goh would also have temporarily gotten one of Wikstrom's Pokemon?
In the sub I watched, the translation used the word 'transfer' to refer to Scyther's held item evolution while going through the machine. It looked more like Wikstrom just sent Scyther through the machine one-way without performing an actual trade.
I may be splitting hairs here, but the trivia section kind of made a point about this episode properly showing a trade evolution, and it just didn't seem that way. True, Scyther was holding the metal coat but it appeared to just be sent through the machine--not technically traded in such a way as to alter ownership. - In the version of the episode I saw, Wikstrom explains exactly the same process as games to evolve a Scyther. The only thing is that it didn't show who Wikstrom sent. My theory is that he sent Aegislash, because as soon as Goh receives the Pokémon, it is the one with Wikstrom. And Aegislash was not with Wikstrom during the trade. It was not a "one sided" trade as they put it on one of the trivias on this page.Hikaru Wazana (talk) 18:31, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- It may have been a misunderstanding on our part, since it was sent through a trade machine. It's possible that Wikstrom didn't send over anything and Scyther was just sent through the machine on its own to evolve it. - That's what I think as well, as normally the screen on the trade machine would have shown two Pokemon, rather than just the one.Animaltamer7 (talk) 23:44, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- The scenes goes way too quickly and doesn't really show anything remotely a trade. Wikstrom doesn't seem to send anything over, the Aegislash argument is speculation.--ForceFire 05:09, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it is speculation. Just like thinking it was a one-way trade. The fact is that Aegislash was with Wikstrom throughout the episode, except during the trade. I don't even think we should hit the hammer and say "YES, IT WAS AEGISLASH". I just think there is no point in stating that the trade was on one side only, and the writers took the trouble to teach the correct method of games to show the process being done wrong. Even if at some point in the future they show Goh's PokeDex and there is an Aesgislash in it, we will already know where it came from.
