Some trivia about the games

Is it notable that although Iris's and Shaga's teams are nearly identical, the only difference is that all of Iris's Pokémon are female while all of Shaga's are male?--Si6x12 06:23, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

It's because they are interchangeable. It's not really very good trivia. If they were not interchangeable, then maybe. --SnorlaxMonster 09:03, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I actually think it's a good piece of trivia. ^_^ Delspencerdeltorro 13:35, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Me too, which is why it's on the page. They could have given them identical teams, but chose not to. Same thing like how Bugsy uses female Pokémon. —darklordtrom 10:26, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Shouldn't this be a disambig? Similar to this? J-J-M 19:15, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Or not. Similar to this.--でんのう Zえんし 19:20, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Or this. And this. She's a Gym Leader, not a player character. This is probably done because of the manga. --ケンジガール 19:22, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Really don't see much difference between a player character or a gym leader, but it's fine. J-J-M 19:31, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Dawn has a different manga counterpart: Platinum Berlitz. Iris can have her game and manga sections in her article without making a new one. That's what I basically meant. --ケンジガール 19:36, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Iris's debut

Someone should probably mention that Iris is first encountered in Black and White in Hiun City, when she becomes Bel's bodyguard after Team Plasma steals Bel's Munna. I can't, though; the page is still edit-locked for me. Adalina 14:48, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Bad pic

Just like Shaga's pic, Iris' has her right leg cut off so shouldn't there be the Bad picture template? I'd put it up but I don't know the specific code. Also... while speculative I feel a need to ask. Is Iris related to Shaga in a family sense? They're both gym leaders of the eighth gym, albeit version exclusively, while the other will teach Draco Meteor. Both train dragon types too. So I believe they're related by blood. and don't worry I'll also put this on the forums. In A Manica 06:02, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't believe that they are stated to be related. --SnorlaxMonster 07:02, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Well Iris does call Shaga 'grandfather' in Japanese but I guess that doesn't mean they're related. I'm too far in Black to see if anything else is mentioned though, and now Iris just wants to teach "the ultimate Dragon move". Bluesun 08:10, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Actually, she calls him "Shaga Oji-san" which could "Mr. Shaga". Could also be "Uncle Shaga". Ojii-san is grandfather. Anyway, this discussion is for the forums. --ケンジガール 08:25, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

2/12/11 - Iris' actress is someone completely new, once I find out who it is, I'll post a name. In the meantime, no it's not Eileen Stevens. - unsigned comment from Kirbopher (talkcontribs)

2/13/11 - Hey, sorry about that. I just messaged Eileen and found out she IS indeed playing Iris! I'm not sure if there was a last second cast-change, I heard from another cast member that Iris was to be played by a new actress, but either way, Eileen's the one! - unsigned comment from Kirbopher (talkcontribs)

Has anyone seen that Iris is dark skinned and her counterpant, Drayden, is white skinned. You can Iris battle in Pokemon White where you can find the black hero Zekrom. Drayden can be battled in pokemon black where the white hero can be found Reshiram. Trivia awarded? --Nazirbashir 17:54, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

I'm gonna say absolutely not. It's a bit too contrived. 梅子 18:05, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Anime Page

For the Anime pages we have on gym leaders, specifically, Iris, Misty, Cilan, and Brock, I've seen that there are no disambiguation pages or even notices. Since we have such pages for other game characters who are major characters in the Anime (May and Dawn for example) shouldn't we have them for the gym leaders as well? --Ggb81 00:34, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Don't you think this should be merged with Drayden? Mothim will rule all! * (and Dustox will too!) 13:49, 30 December 2011 (UTC) 8:49 a. m. December 30 2011

I don't think so. They are different enough to have their own pages; they aren't just version counterparts.--Den Zen 13:58, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
No. --SnorlaxMonster 14:06, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Tutor Trivia

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Iris and Drayden are the only Gym Leaders who serve as Move Tutors. Notable? Tehb0ll0x 01:16, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Relation to Drayden

"Opelucid City's Gym Leader, Drayden, is my grandpa. We're not really related, though!" Do you think this "relation" should be noted somewhere on their pages? - Blazios talk 18:48, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Where was this mentioned? Sneaking from page to page... It's the page-editing purple ghost... Gengarzilla! 17:02, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Memory link, iirc. She says basically the same thing in the Japanese version. Not sure if this should be mentioned or not though. --It's Funktastic~! (talk) 17:04, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
I remember she said that upon the first arrival to Opelucid City. Ariano (talk) 17:09, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Ys, it's said when you meet her in Opelucid. I'm wondering if it's significant enough to be put here, given that it seems similar, though not the same, to how Ghetsis adopted N, Anthea and Concordia. - Blazios talk 17:21, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Iris's Lapras

I have a question about Iris's Lapras in her Black 2 and White 2 party. Could it possibly be a reference to her anime counterpart and how she has a phobia of Ice-type Pokémon? If so, can this be pointed out in her trivia?

PKMNAdventurer (talk) 21:26, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

No. She has no such phobia in the games, which means that it's pure speculation. Ataro (talk) 21:46, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Gym Leader?

I don't think Iris is actually the gym leader in Pokemon White. When I visited Opelucid City, DRAYDEN told Alder that he would battle me, but when the time came to do so, he told Iris to do it for him. So... I think Drayden was just being lazy. Should we add this? Nutter Butter (talk) 21:31, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

She battles the player, awards the badge, and is pictured in the badge case. She's the Gym Leader for gameplay purposes. It's not up for interpretation beyond, perhaps, a trivia note. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 22:35, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

"No need to worry"

Iris says, "no need to worry" in one of the games; don't get mad because my knowledge of generation five games isn't really there. However, in the anime, Dawn says the aforementioned phrase. Plus, Arcade Star Dahlia has said it in her game appearance, one generation prior. Is it notable to add to the trivia that she does this? WATERWarrior67 22:41, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
