Um...A Hydra? How's that possible? I only see one head on that thing!--Pokencyclopedia 18:05, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

I was wondering the same thing myself. Although I do believe the Hydra posessed only one head until hercules started chopping them off. --Zeta 19:33, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Nope, that's only in the Disney movie. It already had several heads when Heracles first confronted it.KrytenKoro 11:31, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Is it really 0x fire damage to Heatran? -Gab

Yes, due to its Flash Fire ability. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 12:11, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Relation to Dialga and Palkia

"Heatran was born from the flames of a volcano when Dialga, Palkia and their relations first created the universe. The lava and magma pooled together to became Heatran." I've only ever seen this here. I don't recall it ever being mentioned at all in the games. Seriously, does every Sinnoh Legendary have to be related to be related to the creation myth?--Dual 01:19, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

I think Buck's grampa says it. - Vereux0

Even then lava and magma are the same thing so it doesn't make any sense. The only difference between the two is that one is made above ground and the other underneath it. -Lord Hyren 23:26, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Evolution?

I know Heatran is a Legendary and can't evolve, but the official Prima guide for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 says something different. In the back of the book there's a Bulbasaur-Darkrai Pokédex. It has a part where it shows the evolution line for that Pokémon. If a Pokémon doesn't evolve, it says "Does not Evolve", but for Heatran, it says "*" and under it, it says "*Check the official Pokémon website in the future for a possible announcement about Heatran [pokemon.com]". YinYang 21:26, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Ooh! I just found out is has the same thing for Giratina YinYang 21:29, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
It's mabye the new forms or a big mistake in the book CoolPikachu!
Hmmm... So that means Heatran might appear in movie 11, eh? TTEchidna 05:48, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Mabye wat woulf Heatran have to with a movie a small-role,camao appearence?who knows CoolPikachu!05:50, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
We're probably just gonna have too wait and see. To be honest, i didn't/don't think Heatran is going to be in the new Movie...I just had a feeling it won't. Takoto タコト 06:01, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Too many legendaries in one movie= Terrible movie. Posted by the OptimatumTalk|Links07:30 10 May 2008
Yes it is too many Pokemon Legends they need to save some for the NEXT MOVIE'.

CoolPikachu!

As far as Legendaries go, I don't think Heatran will make a good movie subject. It doesn't have an exciting a backstory as the rest. They need to just go ahead and make an Arceus movie. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 15:48, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

i think it will appear in the eleventh movie cuz of the deck set: cry from the mysterious\temple of anger as heatran is shown in the pack art and in that article it says that it the deck will debut around the time of the elventh movie.--Nobody777 14:30, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

The people at Prima who make the Pokémon guides are IDIOTS. In the Pokémon Colloseum "guide", they said that BAYLEEF should be used to take down the GOLBAT used by one of the trainers in the Pyrite Town square; anyone who's actually played these games knows that a Golbat would kick a Bayleef's ***.

If you're going to use a Player's Guide for these games, go for the Nintendo Power ones (even if the guide quality has declined since Nintendo Power was bought by that other magazine company). Diachronos 17:04, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Not every Prima guide's terrible. Yes, they do put out some crappy ones, but they put out a quite excellent one for the Gamecube version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Sure, there are a few errors in that guide (a 100-Rupee chest was put down by Prima as being at the Bridge of Eldin and not the Great Bridge of Hylia where it actually is, and they missed two chests in the choking mists of Faron Woods and one more in the Gerudo Desert), but it's probably one of the best game guides I've ever used despite those errors.
Case in point: Judge the trash by what's inside, not by a logo on the outside. --Shiningpikablu252 17:44, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh, you have a point, the Twilight Princess one was pretty good. Must be it's just the Pokémon ones that have what seems like a minimum of 3 mistakes per page. Diachronos 15:55, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

So Heatran really do have a new form, given the new evidence! I wonder if they'll create a 4th version of DP and have it as the mascot! Um, or they will simply give out a item that will transfer it to the new form in a event!-Billy4b2004 11:34, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

We've not seen a fourth version except in the Japanese Generation I.. so I Disagree. Gywall Talk 11:45, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Well. I've the PMD2 pokedex like brochure on the net,it wasnt really a good resolution and captions were written to clarify, same thing written about heatran evolution and giratina evolution, so we got a 50% chance that Pokémon A in movie 12 is a new forme heatran OR Arceus.--Nobody777 11:55, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

movie 12

Heatran is officially included in movie 12, read serebii to see.--Nobody777 16:11, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Already mentioned in the article. ×Kevzo8 02:43, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

In Movie 11?

This article repeats a claim I have never seen substantiated, that Heatran appeared on a stone mosaic in Movie 11 along with a number of other Legendaries. I would like to see proof of this. --The Great Butler 01:45, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Seconded! Morgil27 07:12, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Breeding?

Noticing that it has a low hatch rate like Manaphy and unlike other legendaries, and being the first legendary that can be either male or female, how does this sound for trivia, after the current note about it's hatch rate. Different wording would probably be good though.

    • Because of this, it may have originally been intended to be able to breed. [[Derian]] 13:56, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Largely baseless speculation. It's a no-go. —darklordtrom 21:58, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Legendary Pokemon?

Just wondering, what exactly makes Heatran a Legendary Pokemon? What sets it apart from say Snorlax, or Rotom? I mean it has a gender for Pete's sake! Blake Talk·Edits 23:27, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

It just is. It's been confirmed several times. Alpha CuboneKing 23:29, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Thats what I am wondering. What confirms that? Is it in-game text, or an announcement on the Pokemon website? Blake Talk·Edits 23:43, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Salamander?

Heatran doesn't look reptillian, and would also be Fire/Dragon and not Fire/Steel if it was really a salamander, I'm dropping this. - unsigned comment from Gorebyss (talkcontribs)

Name?

Couldn't it be possible that the "tran" in Heatran's name could be from TRANsgender or TRANsexual? --Mr.lol 14:24, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

The prefix for those words is trans-, not tran-. And I don't see how this could relate to Heatran. --Maxim 14:28, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Heatran can be either gender. --Mr.lol 14:45, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Not fastest hatch rate of legendarys

It says in the trivia of Heatran's page that it and Manaphy have the fastest hatch rate of all legendary pokemon. This is false since Heatran has a hatch rate of 11 cycles, whereas Mew has a hatch rate of only 2 cycles. Blaze B75 23:23, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Heatran CAN breed.

On THREE different copies of Pokemon Diamond, me and my brother captured heatran (all females, I might add) and placed each one in the breeding center with a Ditto. End result: A ton of little baby Heatran running around. It was kinda crazy. Unfortunately, at least two of the copies seem to have disappeared but as soon as I find the third- WAIT I think I know where my Soulsilver is, I could hack in a Heatran with a pokemon modifier or something. But the point: Heatran are NOT in the No-Egg group, at least not in Diamond/Pearl. Note that the Trivia section mentions the inability to breed.

EDIT: I will add a video link as soon as it's successful.

Your Buddy Bill 00:34, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

If you hack it then you can't say it's true. If you give me a liget non-hacked/cloned/modifier then we will prove it. Truthseeker4449 00:41, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Hey, well, he never said that the Heatran were hacked. Still, I want a hundred percent proof. --☆ヨッシ の世界☆ 00:46, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Tried out my Heatran (which is a boy). "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon more than with each other." So there's my response. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 00:49, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
If he uses a Pokémon modifier, then he could skew the resuts and the trustworthyness of the test Truthseeker4449 00:52, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
If I show the AR codes used (to show that it's ONLY changing the pokemon to a heatran or someting like that) will that be proof enough for you? I guess all the Heatran we put in in DP were female, if that has anything to do with anything. Your Buddy Bill 12:40, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Being male or female has nothing to do with it, "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon more than with each other." There's your answer, Heatran can't breed. Not only is it concrete in the game's code, do you honestly not think that someone would have tried breeding their Heatran before in the past 5 years? - Blazios talk 14:00, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

The Weather Quartet!

I just got some similarities with Heatran, Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza: They represent the earth's core, the earth's landmass, the earth's sea and the earth's sky. Together they represent water, earth, fire and air. They are all created at an indispensable part of earth. They all are also guardians of a treasure of the seven treasures. Origin of Heatran's Name in Japanese

Dear all users of Bulbapedia,

In Japanese Pokemon Encyclopaedia, Heatran's page (http://wiki.xn--rckteqa2e.com/wiki/%E3%83%92%E3%83%BC%E3%83%89%E3%83%A9%E3%83%B3) tells that ...

"Heatran"[Hii-doran] comes from the words: 火 ("Hi"; fire), Ὕδρα (Hydra, the Lernaean), with combination of Heat and Dragon.

Should we have to edit the section about its origin name in Japanese? Beacuse I also think that its name does not simply come from heat and transfer.

Thank you for attention!

The Jaune Plaza Thing

I don't know for certain but I'm pretty sure I heard that the Trivia bit about Jaune Plaza is an English mistranslation. I think in the Japanese version, one of the ladies in the plaza imitates Heatran's cry, and the other dude says that he thinks there must be a lava dome Pokémon somewhere in the plaza. (Because her imitation is so good.)

I dunno. Can someone confirm this? - unsigned comment from Qwertyo76 (talkcontribs)

I found a Japanese video with those two women, and all the first says is, "I hear there's a Pokemon in Jaune Plaza". The second line also got embellished a bit in the English, because the Japanese doesn't include any sort of laugh like in the English games. So together that seems pretty suspect.
On the other hand, I can't be sure of this, but I have this idea that those two women don't always say the same lines, so it may be possible that there's still another Japanese line. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:18, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Catching one? (Why is this info never on the Pokemon pages?)

Why is there NO INFO AT ALL on how to catch a Heatran in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum? There's barely even info related to the Magma Stone or anything.

Why do you guys purposely leave out important information like this on the main page of the Pokemon or erase it whenever someone tries to edit in the information on where to find or catch a Pokemon at. This was also the case for Spiritomb, which has NO information on how to get one at (and had the info erased when I myself tried to add it in.) It's a shame I have to go to another website just to find basic info on how to actually CATCH a Heatran, something that should be right on the main paragraph of the Pokemon's page, assuming it's a legendary or hard/complicated to get. - unsigned comment from Mcheetah (talkcontribs)

It was explained to you why your Spiritomb edit was reverted. You tried to put it in the intro, when such info belongs in the Game locations section if anywhere. The same goes for any details regarding the Magma Stone.
You kind of need to rein in your frustration a bit. No one has prevented you from trying to improve this page or any other page relevant to the Magma Stone/catching Heatran. The next time, before jumping to a talk page to yell about the wiki's failings, please try to improve it yourself first. (And don't use your reversion on Spiritomb as an excuse. Your mistake was well explained to you, you should be able to learn from it. If you're not confident, you can always ask for help. That would be much more productive than throwing out accusations.)
Also, please try to remember to sign your posts. Tiddlywinks (talk) 22:12, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Heatran_(Pokémon)#Game_locations. Make sure you actually read the article, don't expect the information to be in the first paragraph of every page.--ForceFire 04:30, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Heatran's Eyes

In Pokémon BW/B2W2 and XY/ORAS, Heatran's eyes remain open while it's sleeping. This seems to contradict what is stated in the Biology section of the article:

"Heatran has a gray underside, and its face is covered by an iron mask, with red-orange eyes uncovered."

Is it possible that this is nothing but a double oversight from the developers, or does Heatran simply not have eyelids? In the latter case, would this be a candidate for the Trivia section?

- Jaxon (talk) 01:17, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

Biology sections are derived from depictions. Don't take them as absolute gospel.
At any rate, the sentence you're quoting merely means that the mask has eye holes. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:26, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. However, I got the part about the mask, so my question still stands: Would the fact that Heatran doesn't close its eyes while sleeping in any of the games with said feature qualify as something to be added to the Trivia section? Or perhaps the Biology section? (That it apparently lacks eyelids)

Origin: Turtle? Looks more like a frog.

I'm definitely not seeing a connection to turtles/tortoises. Given its spots, stubby tail, and ability to walk on walls/ceilings, it reminds me more of a metamorph froglet—a really big one! (I also can't help but wonder if it might draw inspiration from the ancient devil frog, based on its horns and fiery environment.) Icycatelf (talk) 13:37, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
