Talk:Fateful encounter

Woooooaaaaahhhhh, nelly. It says here that only FE Shaymin can change form. So if I were to hack a Flower Paridise Shaymin from DP, send it to Pt/HGSS, and try and use a Gracidea on it, then I'd get the no-effect blip? Giratina's Embodiment - Please don't hurt us... 02:00, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, if you use walk-through-walls to get to Shaymin, it won't work, but using Oak's Letter (hacked or not) will get you the Gracedia. CuboneKing 02:06, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't actually hack the stuff, but I thought it was only a fateful encounter if you got it from Pt? - unsigned comment from Giratina's Embodiment (talkcontribs)

Oh yeah. You're right. CuboneKing 02:14, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Fateful Encounters in XD

I don't know if this is just my game, but all pokémon that originated in XD and transferred to Black or White has a fateful encounter status. This makes the Shaymin trivia false, also.Buibui 16:51, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Mew from Emerald and Deoxys from FR/LG/E also are Fateful Encounter ones (even though they do not show it in the summary). The Fateful encounter flag is needed so they obey, so this article is mostly wrong. hfc2X 23:57, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Shaymin Trivia

I think the trivia saying that Shaymin at the Flower Paradise in DP was not fateful encounter because of Tweaking and the Surf glitch is bunk. The developers were probably not aware of those glitches when programming the game, and probably hadn't even decided to require Fateful Encounter Shaymin in the next game for the form change. Thus it's rather the other way around; the Shaymin in Platinum IS fateful encounter BECAUSE should they release the event for Platinum, they wanted the Shaymin to be able to activate its exclusive form. --AndyPKMN (talk) 18:41, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

A few errors

For the HGSS Sinjoh ruins:

First of all, I think the Arceus must be shiny.

Also, any chosen member of the Creation Trio will be holding its orb, not just Giratina. Tk3141 21:18, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

For the first part, Arceus's can't be legitimately gotten shiny, so that's not true. I'm not sure about the orbs, but I think you're right about that. --It's Funktastic~! 21:29, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Forget the shininess, then, but I'm changing the thing about the orbs. Tk3141 15:04, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I corrected the page, and I made the word "orb" link to the Legendary artifacts page. However, I am unsure of how to make it link directly to the part of the page that says "Timespace orbs". Tk3141 15:33, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Therian Formes

Are the Kami Trio from the Dream Radar Fateful encounters? I don't have a 3DS, so I wouldn't know, and how else is the event where you get the Reveal Glass activated if they are not? MatchMaster (Talk | Contribs) 00:55, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

No. They are listed as "arrived" though. --SnorlaxMonster 06:29, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Behavior when transfered to later games

The following sentence is ambiguous: "However, 'fateful encounter' does not always appear in the text of Pokémon with this flag set in Generations III and IV." If a Pokémon like this is transfered up to a game from Generation V or VI, will the text stay hidden or will it show? MF231 20:39, 25 June 2016 (UTC)

Pokémon Black and White

I'm fairly sure that the Shiny Legendary beasts and Celebi actually trigger their events using their special met locations, not due to being fateful encounter. That's why they can only trigger the event if transferred via the Relocator (but not if transferred via Poké Transfer). The met location actually changes once it is used to trigger the event, so that it can't trigger the event again. However, both special met locations do specify that it was a fateful encounter.

I would just remove it from the page, but it's possible that the Relocator itself checks that they were met in a fateful encounter before allowing them to be transferred that way. Which if that is the case, that should be explicitly stated. --SnorlaxMonster 12:41, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
