The Tag Team GX Power Up Box is similar to the Japanese Tag Team GX Deck Build Box, both in terms of its design and its concept of introducing people to competitive play. To that end, the box includes a number of Pokémon and Trainer cards used in tournament-tried decks. The box comes packaged with a 60-card deck featuring Charizard-GX and numerous other Fire-type Pokémon, and a 44-card "Power Up Box" containing the popular Tapu Lele-GX in addition to more Trainer and Special Energy cards. The inclusion of the Power Up Box encourages players to experiment with the base deck, as do the 10 Double Blaze booster packs also contained in the box.
The Charizard-GX Deck and Power Up Box together form a numbered set with its own exclusive collection symbol. The Charizard-GX is Holofoil as per its original To Have Seen the Battle Rainbow print, whereas Tapu Lele-GX is Non Holofoil. Each Tag Team GX Power Up Box also comes with a rulebook, a playmat, a sheet of damage counters and status markers, a GX marker, and a coin.
