A sync stone ultimate (Japanese: アルティメットバディストーン ultimate buddy stone), also known as a mysterious stone (Japanese: 謎の石 mysterious stone), is a special type of stone in Pokémon Masters EX. As the name implies, sync stones ultimate are similar to sync stones, containing energy that is powered by the bond between a Trainer and their Pokémon. They seem to have a connection to the Mythical Pokémon Arceus.
In the games
Sync stones ultimate are black stones with a crack on the surface, revealing a rainbow light. The first sync stone ultimate was found by Rei at the end of Together in an Unknown Land, and more were found by sync pairs across Pasio during The Echo of a Deity's Voice. They can be found in any environment, such as towns and forests. Professor Bellis is researching them.
The true power of the sync stones ultimate is first manifested by Steven, Lance, and Cynthia during the Arceus Arc in the form of new costumes called arc suits and more powerful sync moves called divine moves.
Availability
Mysterious Stones can be received as completion rewards from battles in the training area, as well as the Daily Region Rotation. There is also a rare chance of finding Mysterious Stones on a Trainer Lodge expedition.
Uses
Prior to August 20, 2024, collecting certain amounts of Mysterious Stones was required to unlock story areas in the Prelude: Mysterious Stones Chapter. Mysterious Stones can also be exchanged in the shop for rare items. These exchanges reset monthly. A total of 90 Mysterious Stones are needed to obtain all the limited items each month.
