Special battle event

Special battle events (Japanese: 特別バトルイベント Special Battle Event) are limited-time events in Pokémon Masters EX where players face a series of difficult battles to earn rewards.

Four Trials

This event ran from July 16 to 30, 2022. It contained no story content, but players could earn rewards by completing special missions. Each mission could only be completed by taking on a specific battle, and each battle had three associated missions with the same basic objective:

• "The First Trial": Use a certain number of sync pairs with the Passionate Spirit theme skill.
• "The Second Trial": Use a certain number of supereffective attacks.
• "The Third Trial": Deal a certain amount of total damage.
• "The Fourth Trial": Deal a certain amount of damage with a single Pokémon move.

Fulfilling a condition was only counted towards a mission if the battle was completed. For example, dealing 4000 damage in "The Third Trial" and then quitting the battle would not count towards the total damage dealt during the battle.

Each mission in a set had progressively more difficult requirements, and completing each mission in the set would reward the player with a 3★, 4★, or 5★ Power-Up for completing the first, second, or third mission, respectively. Players received Gems for completing all missions.

Challenge Serena and Calem

This event ran from December 5 to 19, 2022, alongside the Leaders of a New Era and Let Your Heart Shine! events. Players completed a short story area featuring Serena and Calem, and then they were able to take on these two Neo Champions in battles. Completing each battle rewarded the player with Gems and Champion Spirits.

Challenge Galar's Worthiest

This event ran from March 6 to 21, 2023, alongside the Fight for the Future Together and Show the Best Teamwork! events. Players completed a short story area featuring Hop, Marnie, and Bede, and then they were able to take on these three Neo Champions in battles. Completing each battle rewarded the player with Gems and Champion Spirits.

This event ran from December 4, 2023 to January 4, 2024, alongside the A Pure and Touching Heart and Show Your Hearts As One! events. Players could complete a story area featuring Nate, the newest Neo Champion, which included a battle against him; this unlocked an additional, more challenging battle against Nate. Completing each battle rewarded the player with Gems and Champion Spirits.

This event ran from December 25, 2023 to January 14, 2024, alongside the A Touching Sepia-Toned Song and Show the Meaning of Strength! events. Players could complete a story area featuring Rosa, the newest Neo Champion, which included a battle against her; this unlocked an additional, more challenging battle against Rosa. Completing each battle rewarded the player with Gems and Champion Spirits.

Completing each battle rewarded the player with Gems and Champion Spirits.
