There's no way that can be construed to make room for the possibility of another leg; the key word here, "only", modifies the verb "leg" too specifically for that to take place. What you said, about the whole visibility thing and so on, is more so "reading too much into it" then reading it literally (with context making no suggestion it ''shouldn't'' be read literally) is.
