::: I know this is old, but I just stumbled on it today and tried it. If you trade over a Finneon (it can only be obtained by getting a Rod in-game) and it's the only Poke in your party that knows Surf, you're stuck unless you have Rare Candies to evolve the Magikarp or have Fly. IIRC, this is the first time it's possible to be stuck in a Pokemon game without glitches or cheats. Should I make a note of it?
