I was thinking about it, and maybe Gible actually comes from Dirigible. I mean, Garchomp is like a jet in some ways, right? So maybe Gible is paying homage to the blimp. Rabid Biscuit 23:48, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

:Gible sounds like Nibble, and I'm pretty sure that's the naming convention they used. Same as the other evolutions have Bite and Chomp in them... --<font color="#237d00"> Jïörüjï Ðērākō.></font><small><font color="#237d00">.cнаt^</font></small> 13:12, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Gible is called the "Landshark" pokemon, a Landshark is another name for apex predator. A shark is an example of an apex predator, it has no natural enemies. So could this be were the origin of Gible came from?--Teamrocketfan45 01:41, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

So could this be were the origin of Gible came from? I find it very hard to believe that the creaters of pokemon would even think of the SNL sketch for an idea for a pokemon. Very little pokemon are based on pop-culture; and do they even have SNL in Japan?

:I would rather expect it to be a reference to the pop-culture Landshark, originating in a Saturday Night Live sketch. --AndyPKMN 13:21, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
