I don't believe it is a coincidence. As I mentioned in the article, the spell tag is a ghost-related item, there's a trainer on the route who specifically mentions hauntings, and IIRC, the 'ghost' herself talks in a slow, disjointed manner (lots of ellipses) and says that 'a ''person'' ... [is] a rare sight'. Also note that the house itself has no lighting, not even after dark which implies that it has been abandoned and no-one lives there.
