In the Trading Card Game, the attacks are really important. Each Pokémon has some attacks. When it's your turn, you can choose an attack.
Attacks are the TCG's equivalent to [[moves]]. Attacking the opponent is, like in the video games, usually the key strategy to the Trading Card Game. Nearly every card has at least one attack, though not all attacks do damage.

===Requirements===
===Requirements===

To activate an attack, you will have to have some energy cards attached to the Pokémon that you want. The energies that are required are shown to the left of the Name and Description.
The large majority of attacks require a certain number of energy cards to be attached to the Pokémon. The energy cost for each attack is printed to the left of the attack name. The {{c|Colorless}} energy symbol means that any energy card can be used to pay the cost. Some attacks may require additional costs, such as discarding a card.

The types of energy cards that currently exist are:

* {{c|Darkness Energy}}
* {{c|Fighting Energy}}
* {{c|Fire Energy}}
* {{c|Grass Energy}}
* {{c|Lightning Energy}}
* {{c|Metal Energy}}
* {{c|Psychic Energy}}
* {{c|Water Energy}}

The {{c|Colorless}} energy symbol means that any energy card can be used.

===Name and description===

At the right of the energy symbols is the name of the attack. Most of the time, a description will follow, detailing the effects of the move. If there is no description, the attack will most likely just deal direct damage without any side effects.

At the right of the name and the description, there is a number, usually divisible by ten. This is the damage that the attack does.

A ×, a +, or a - indicates that the damage may vary. If one sees this, they should refer to the description of the attack to understand the effects of it.

Sometimes, there may be no number at all. This indicates that the attack deals no damage to the opposing Pokémon, or has special effects regarding it. Again, one should refer to the description of the attack.
