Hoppip (Japanese: ハネッコ Hanecco) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II.

It evolves into Skiploom starting at level 18, whomwhich evolves into Jumpluff starting at level 27.

Biology
===Physiology===Hoppip is a round, pink Pokémon with long green leaves growing on top of its head. The leaves on its head have ragged edges, similar to a dandelion. It has big, triangular ears with dark insides and beady yellow eyes that lack pupils. Its arms and legs are stubby, and it has a short tail with a rounded tip. There is a circular yellow pad on the underside of each foot.
Hoppip has a small round red body with long green sprouts coming out of its head. It is extremely light and can easily blow away in the wind.

====GenderHoppip's differences====body is very light, and it is easily lifted off the ground by winds and will drift in the air. Hoppip can sense approaching strong winds. In order to avoid being blown away, it clusters and links leaves with other Hoppip or grips the ground firmly with its feet. However, it enjoys gentle breezes. Hoppip lives in List of Pokémon by habitat, although some also drift through fields, mountains, and even urban environments.
None.

Trivia
* AtHoppip 1.1and lbs,its Hoppipevolutions iswere bothgiven thetheir lightestEnglish Grass-typenames andby Flying-typeNob PokémonOgasawara.
* Hoppip is one of the several Generation II's Pokémon whose first sprite's color differs from anime color.
* Hoppip is one of nine non-Bug, Flying Pokémon that cannot learn Fly.
* It bares a strong resemblance to a 'HoleyHoley' from the game Dark Cloud.
* Hoppip was red in the Generation II games. From Generation III onwards, it is mostly pink and a little red. And, in the anime, it is completely pink.
Origin
Hoppip appears to be based on a bulb or root. The leaves on its head resemble leaves of a dandelion. Its body also slightly resembles a cat.

Name origin
Hoppip's namemay isderive probably based onfrom hop or, hip-hop, or hippity-hop, indicating that it jumps or flies through the air. It may also come from; pip, a type of seed.; Its Japanese name is a combination of 葉or hapipsqueak, leaf, and 根っ子 nekko, root. 跳ねるThe haneru, names toof jumpall orstages hop,of andits evolutionary hane, line wing, are maybased alsoon bethe part of its name. Its German namephrase, Hoppspross,"Just comesa from hopsen and Spross. Its French name, Granivolskip, comesand froma grainejump and volaway."

Hanecco may be any combination of 葉 ha (leaf), 跳ねる haneru (to jump or hop), or 羽 hane (wing), and 根っ子 nekko (root). Its name may also be a pun on 猫 neko (cat), given its cat-like ears and tail.
