In the original Japanese version you actually see Meowth violently scratching Jessie and James's faces with an almost perfect and fluid scratching animation, with the resulting bloody scratchmarks on their faces. In the English dub, the scratching shot was cut, and was replaced with 2 shots of colored stars with a black background.
