Pokémon Puzzle Challenge: Difference between revisions

Marathon - The game continues until some blocks hit the top. Try to earn all the endings. You may select the difficulty, the speed the field rises at, and the Pokémon to use. Easy uses five kinds of basic tiles, but Normal and Hard add the dark blue triangle piece found in all games but Planet Puzzle League.  

Challenge - Battle Gym Leaders. Play a simulated VS. mode against your opponents. Combos, chains, and Surprise (!) blocks wear away at your opponent's health bar, roughly simulating an actual player of some skill. You play as the Pokémon Gold and Silver male protagonist defeating Johto Gym Leaders and, on Normal and higher, the Johto Elite Four. Lance, the Champion, is faced as your final opponent on Hard and greater difficulties. Here is a list of all Gym Leaders and Elite Four opponents in Puzzle Challenge:

Time Zone - Try to get a high score in a limited amount of time. Get chains and combos for max points.  

Line Clear - Clear all stages. There are 6 rounds, each with 5 stages (including a Bonus Stage). After beating all 30 stages, a battle awaits. This mode also features Johto Gym Leaders.  

Puzzles - Divided in rounds and stages, the goal is to clear the block setup in a limited amount of moves (usually 1 to 5).  

Garbage - Same as Marathon, with two differences: Most obviously, Garbage Blocks of varying sizes fall down randomly from the top. The number and type of Garbage Blocks depends on the Garbage Level (which constantly rises). Also, the scroll speed never changes, probably because the Garbage Blocks present enough of a challenge to the player.  

Like others in the Puzzle League series, Pokémon Puzzle Challenge has several unlockable extras revealed as you accomplish tasks in the game.

Igglybuff, Elekid, Cleffa, and Magby are only usable in Marathon mode. They begin as eggs who cannot be used, but they "hatch" and become playable over time.
