Now, how do we even know that this Venusaur is the same Bulbasaur? For all we know, May could've captured a female Venusaur in Johto, and her Bulbasaur could still be at Professor Oak's, because as far as I know, Venusaur's only appearance was a 5-second cameo, and it was never explicitly stated that that Venusaur was once the Bulbasaur May left at Professor Oak's lab.
