More to the point -- yes, both terms have been used in official contexts. The more important detail I was pointing out was that the change on Bulbapedia has been very poorly received by fans, who have nearly always used the term "starter", and again, it has become a point of ridicule towards Bulbapedia as a website. My point was not about my own personal preference, it was to call attention to the broad preference of users of this wiki who are displeased with the decision. :Ok, I understand that this is not about your personal preference. If you ask me, I usually like to say "starter Pokémon". However, my question above still stands: for anyone who does not like "first partner", why single out Bulbapedia when this is a term that has been consistently used in several games, official media, and promotional material for at least 13 years and is also currently used by some other fansites around the world?
