Research task (Legends: Arceus): Difference between revisions

A lot to unpack here. Got the shiny charm yesterday so this is all from experience. Thinking this page might benefit from being ordered (or orderable) by Hisuian number along with National Dex number. Also maybe a more conventional colored BP roundtable class.

Research tasks are goals set by Professor Laventon. Each Pokémon has different tasks.
Each research task goal met (for example, catching one Pikachu, as well as two, four, ten, and fifteen) grants research levels and points towards the next rank in the Galaxy Team. If a task is marked with two upward-pointing arrows, each goal for that task grants two research levels and twenty points towards rank. All other goals give one level and ten points. The one exception is Arceus, who has one task that gives ten research levels and 100 points. All tasks for obtaining a given Pokémon with no other requirements are boosted for each goal, with the first goal for that task always being to obtain one.
Each Pokémon's research level maxes out at ten, though continuing to complete tasks will still give points towards rank. Reaching research level ten for any species will also grant an additional hundred points.
When all research tasks for a given Pokémon have been completed, the Poké Ball icon with their research level will have stars added to it, and the word "Complete!" for research level ten will change to "Perfect!" Because of the nature of their tasks, Arceus and Unown both reach this status upon attaining research level ten.
If a Pokémon has not yet been obtained, its research level remains at zero until it's registered. After that, all tasks for that Pokémon that would have been completed are retroactively marked off, and the research level is set and rank points are awarded accordingly.
When all species have reached research level 1 (which requires having obtained at least one), the player is able to challenge Arceus atop the Temple of Sinnoh. When all species have reached research level 10, Cyllene gives the player the Shiny Charm.
The task "Number of different forms you've obtained" applies to both regional forms and gender differences, but not for shinies, alphas (which have their own task for a number of species), or Pokémon that can change form through use of an item or game mechanic, such as Cherrim or Shaymin. After Unown, the Pokémon with the highest number of forms required is Sneasel with four, as both its Hisuian and Johtonian forms further have gender differences.
The task "Number you've evolved" applies both to evolving from and to that species. For example, evolving a Rowlet into a Dartrix and then into a Decidueye will count twice towards evolution Dartrix's task.
Eighteen different species have research tasks that are tied to completing a request involving that Pokémon. Before the request is completed, the task count will read "Method unknown". After completing the request, the count will be replaced with a checked off "1". Each of these tasks are boosted with the double-upward arrow icon.
