If held by a {{p|Tyranitar}}, allows it to [[Mega Evolution|Mega Evolve]] into Mega Tyranitar if its {{pkmn|Trainer}} has a [[Key Stone]]. Each Trainer can only Mega Evolve one Pokémon per battle.
 
Unaffected by item negating effects (such as {{m|Embargo}} and {{a|Klutz}}). Item manipulating effects (such as {{m|Trick}} and {{m|Fling}}) cannot give Tyranitar a Tyranitarite or remove a Tyranitarite from Tyranitar.
