Leafeon (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

In the 2018 artbook, EVs, [[Motofumi Fujiwara]] revealed that Eevee was inspired by vague childhood memories of an unknown creature he encountered in the forest. Though it wasn't based on any distinct animal, Fujiwara mentioned that Eevee reminded him of a fluffy cat or dog-like creature.<ref>https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2018-09-10/pokemon-designers-reflect-on-history-of-eevee-design/.136529</ref> This served as the basis for Leafeon and Eevee's other evolutions. Leafeon also bears many similarities to cats in their behavior like tree climbing, and it's [[cry]] sounds similar to a cat's meow or a fox's chirp. Its coloration appears to be inspired by the markings found on animals like the {{wp|Siamese cat}} or the {{wp|red fox}}. It also has traits of {{wp|plant}}s, such as the ability to utilize {{wp|photosynthesis}}. The brown marks of its paws give the appearance that they were buried. In Japan, and around the world, there are stories about domesticated animals that upon entering the forest become wild and eventually become one with it. Leafeon could be an exaggerated example of this story.
