Starmie (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Starmie appears to be based on a stylized {{wp|starfish}} such as the {{wp|purple sea star}} (due to its color) or the {{wp|sunflower sea star}} (due to its many arms). Like Starmie, many real starfish have the ability to {{wp|regenerate}} lost body parts. Given its ties to outer space and ability to emit light, it might also be based on literal {{wp|stars}} and {{wp|meteors}}. Starmie is also reminiscent of ornate {{wp|jewelry}}, with its central core resembling a {{wp|facet}}ed gem mounted inside a golden {{wp|prong setting}}. The standard color of its gem resembles a {{wp|ruby}}, while its [[Shiny]] color resembles a {{wp|sapphire}}. Its tendency to rapidly spin its body is reminiscent of {{wp|shuriken}} and {{wp|propellers}}.
