It was then up against Pikachu, which both Pokemon seemed evenly matched until Ash purposefully activited its Motor Drive ability. However, this was a mistake as Electivire was able to defeat Pikachu. Finally, it battled Infernape for the victor. After a heated battle, Electivire used Thunder against Infernape, which after being scolded by Paul for the final time, {{AP|Infernape}} activated its {{a|Blaze}} Ability and after a close match, Electivire fell and lost Paul the match.
