While looking for [[Professor Oak]] who had called both of them to his laboratory, the player tries to leave town, only for Oak to catch up to him steps into {{rt|1|Kanto}}'s grassy path. Warning the player about the dangers of walking in [[tall grass]] without a Pokémon, Oak himself encounters wild Pikachu/Eevee and the player catches it, before leading the player to his laboratory, where he allows the player to take the single [[Pokéball]] containing the Pikachu/Eevee the player caught earlier.
