Due to the decreased amount of types in the TCG, Poison-type Pokémon werehave generallybeen listed as three different types. They were listed as {{TCGct|Grass}} Pokémon untilprior to the {{TCG|Diamond & Pearl}} set and as {{TCGct|Psychic}} Pokémon from Diamond & Pearl to {{TCG|Cosmic Eclipse}}. Now, startingStarting with {{TCG|Sword & Shield}}, they are groupednow withlisted theas {{TCGct|Darkness}} type.

Poison-type Pokémon in the TCG were generally weak to {{TCG|Psychic}} Pokémon prior to Sword & Shield and are now weak to {{TCG|Fighting}}. They have no resistances. They were strong against {{TCG|Fighting}} and {{TCG|Water}} Pokémon prior to Diamond & Pearl,; nowin howeverlater expansions, they arewere changed to be strong against the {{TCG|Grass}}-, {{TCG|Fighting}}- and {{TCG|Psychic}} -types. They can be resisted by {{TCG|Colorless}} and {{TCG|Darkness}}, as well as {{TCG|Metal}} Pokémon since the Diamond and& Pearl expansion set.
