Wattson's Manectric: Difference between revisions

Manectric first appeared as an Electrike in ''[[AG040|Watt's with Wattson?]]''. At the time, Wattson was in complete shock after [[Ash's Pikachu]] defeated his three Pokémon in quick succession, and left for [[New Mauville]] to clear his head. On the isalnd, Elctrike approached him, which cheered him up. With Electrike around, Wattson forgot about the loss completely and fed the {{type|Electric}} some [[Pokémon food]].

As the pair played, {{TRT}} arrived in their [[Team Rocket's mechas|Vacuum car]] to steal the power plant's [[wild Pokémon]]. Wattson confronted the trio, though Electrike and Ash's Pikachu were also nabbed. When Team Rocket became distracted by the robot Raikou Wattson uses at his Gym, it gave Electrike the chance to break out of the cage with Pikachu's assistance. Electrike managed to do so with its Bite attack and reunited with Wattson. It used Thunder Wave to temporarily stun [[Jessie's Dustox]] while Pikachu sent Team Rocket blasting off. Afterwards, Electrike decided that it wanted to stay with Wattson, who happily added it to its team to mark a new beginning. Wattson then said his goodbyes to Ash and {{ashfr}}, promising to battle him again in the future.

Ash and his newly caught {{AP|Torkoal}} took on Wattson and Manectric in a practice match. Torkoal started things off with {{m|Overheat}} which fazed Manectric a bit. When Torkoal used the move again, Manectric took very little damage this time due to Overheat's effect of getting weaker. Torkoal switched to {{m|Flamethrower}} which made contact with Manectric, but it shook off the attack. Manectric then started to use a combination of Charge and Thunder Wave while Torkoal countered with Overheat. Due to Overheat's weakening power, Thunder Wave got through and struck Torkoal, so Manectric emerged victorious.

Electrike's playful nature reinvigorated Wattson's own spirit and interest in battling, with the pair quickly becoming friends. Wattson decided to add Elctrike to his team in ''[[AG040|Watt's with Wattson?]]'' following its performance against {{TRT}} and its still-developing {{m|Thunder Wave}} technique requiring his expertise. During {{Ash}}'s [[rematch]] in ''[[AG059|Manectric Charge]]'', Manectric's Thunder Wave was very successful as it knocked out {{AP|Torkoal}}.
