Ash caught a Pidgeotto in Ash Catches a Pokémon, which also marked the species' debut. Since then, it played a role as one of Ash's main Pokémon until it eventually evolved into Pidgeot and left Ash's party to guard other Pidgey and Pidgeotto.

A Pidgeotto appeared in Pokéblock, Stock and Berry, under the ownership of Vladimir. It knows Aerial Ace, and as a result, he uses it to demonstrate to other Trainers, like Ash and his Swellow, how to use the Flying attack.
Minor appearances
A Pidgeotto briefly appeared in a fantasy in The School of Hard Knocks.
A Pidgeotto appeared in SS006, where Go attempted to catch it, only for it to fly off.
Pokédex entries
In Pokémon Origins
A Pidgeotto appeared in File 1: Red as one of the Pokémon seen in Professor Oak's introduction.
