Dracozolt (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Dracozolt, like its counterparts, may be based on the {{wp|Crystal Palace Dinosaurs}}, a series of misassembled dinosaur sculptures displayed at Bromley's Crystal Palace Park in London. The lack of full-body cover of feathers on the upper halves of both Dracozolt and Arctozolt, and the {{wp|Anatomical terms of motion#Hands and feet|pronation}} of their limbs, is likely a reference to outdated reconstructions of non-avian theropod dinosaurs. The fact that the Pokedex entries for all the Galar Fossils mention them being the cause of their own extinction is a reference to the outdated hypothesis that the dinosaurs were evolutionarily inert, which made them get bigger, sluggisher and stupider to the point they couldn't sustain themselves.  

Since they are based on bad reconstructions, it is hard to pinpoint which animals the Galar Fossil halves are based on. In Dracozolt's case, the description of the Fossilized Bird suggests its upper half comes from a pokemon able to fly, so it probably is based on an ancient bird relative that had a beak, teeth, hand claws, and feathers, like {{wp|Jeholornis}}.  It may also take inspiration on the {{wp|Velociraptor}} and other {{wp|dromeosaurid|dromeosaurids}}. Its bottom half appears to be based mainly on a {{wp|stegosaurid}}.
