* Although Born to Be a Winner officially became the opening theme starting in A Goldenrod Opportunity, the first Pokémon in the United States presentations, as well as the former Pokémon in the United States version, Cartoon Network and Pokémon in the United States broadcasts, continued to use Pokémon Johto as the opening and closing credits up until the following episode. This was amended for the American DVD release and the Disney XD/Amazon Video streaming version.
* In one scene, Misty's List of clothing in the anime are colored all white.
* When Misty is complaining about Bug-type Pokémon, Togepi moves its mouth, but it doesn't say anything.
Dub edits
* In the original, the rules stated that people over eighteen were not allowed to enter, while the in the dub, it was sixteen.
* When Ash and Casey run towards the National Park, Team Rocket notices this. Wobbuffet pops out of its Poké Ball, much to Jessie's annoyance. Team Rocket then plans to enter the Bug Catching competition. 18 seconds of this scene were edited out, and the dub failed to explain why Team Rocket wanted to enter in the first place.
* After Casey commanded her Chikorita to use Razor Leaf against a group of Pineco (with Misty and Brock watching in the background and Ash witnessing this), a 5-second scene of Pineco lying on the ground was cut.
* The final dub commercial break eyecatch was placed in between the scene of Ash holding a Poké Ball containing Beedrill and the Sun Stone and Ash, Misty, Brock and Casey outside the National Park. However, a transition scene that existed within the split in the original version was edited out in the dub.
