:I haven't come across any new Sun&Moon merchandise. I think the XY merchandise was launched due to the XY anime series being aired at the same time. All the merchandise at that time were just regular products with Pokemon characters on them. They just used Ash's XY series picture and the Indian XY logo. It was probably done by people who couldn't care less about the show.
